Post by Funkytown »

Just curious if anyone else is going. I always ask. :D

It's the usual event with Vikings fun, autographs, cheerleaders, Viktor, etc.
The 2014 Miller Lite Vikings Draft Party will feature live NFL Draft coverage from KFAN and NFL Network. As you watch the Draft unfold, ice-cold Miller Lite and Pepsi will be available along with your favorite tailgate fare. During the event, meet the 2014 Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders, Viktor and purchase your new Vikings gear from the Vikings Locker Room Store. A select number of current and former players will also be on hand to sign autographs at the Vikings Children’s Fund Autograph Zone.

What: Miller Lite Vikings Draft Party
When: Thursday, May 8th, 2014
Time: Doors open at 5:30pm
First Round of the NFL Draft starts at 7:00pm (Vikings currently hold the 8th pick)
Event concludes at the end of the First Round of the NFL Draft

Yep, I'd make you go with me! My group has two extra red zone tickets. Once you get back, you're always my built-in backup. lol. Trust me, you'll get to go to some games and draft parties because of it. My friends are the worst; they back out a lot. So, hurry and get back! You'll be rewarded. :-)

...seriously? No one else is going?

My friend has an extra Red Zone ticket. I could probably hook someone up if I wanted. :)

I can't make it, but I think it would be great if they had the dtaft party all 3 days and on Saturday fly in the first three round picks to be introduced to the fans at the party.

Well, they had something similar planned last year. It didn't work out as planned from what I remember, but the Saturday "family day" was still fun, but it didn't compare to the actual draft party on Thursday night.

Well, that's no good. I have the same two-week schedule that just repeats forever, giving me every other weekend off. But, more importantly than that, my vacation time is the best. Right now, I have about 250 hours of PTO built up, so I take off whenever the heck I feel like it. :D This would be one of those times!

Even though I live in Kansas, I had Viking season tix for 12 years. '93-'05. I used to go to the draft party when they had it at MOA in the Rotunda. That was a blast!

Most vivid memory though wasn't that great. I was having car trouble and borrowed a friends' new SUV to make the trip. Brought my niece with me. When we went to leave I hadn't paid close enough attention to the color of our parking level. As I came out of the mall, I should have gone down the steps to our level but went up. I was sure the SUV had been stolen!! I was in a panic and wondering what I should do when I finally headed back toward the mall entrance. I then noticed the split steps. I went down, and there was the car. WHEW!!

I haven't been in years but would love to come up for it. Heck, if I came up this weekend, I'd want to go to the Wild game too!!! 2 in a row for Mike Yeo!!!

You have a Red Zone ticket? Want one? :-) We might just make a friend in line otherwise. We have one extra.

 I can just imagine how scared you were, but why am I laughing about it? lol. Sorry. I'm just in a great mood, I guess. I'm at my friend's now, in Wisconsin. We are heading out tomorrow morning. Of my group, we have two from Iowa, one from Wisconsin, one from the Cities, and one from Montana. Poor Montana, lol, that's an 11-hour drive. He does it for every home game, too. What a dude. Hopefully none of us have car troubles tomorrow. :)

The draft party really is fun. It was a blast the last two years at the Dome, too. I'm curious to find out how the Convention Center compares, but I think it'll be good. I loved being down there on the field, though. I'll miss the Dome. If it's nice tomorrow (it's supposed to rain), I plan on heading down there early to see where the Dome used to be. It's one thing to see it online, but it's another to see it in person. I'd like to, just for the heck of it. We'll see what the weather brings.

Aside from all that, I'm super excited for tomorrow. I love, love, love trips to Minneapolis, but I especially love hanging with my Vikings' lovin' friends. I love going to Vikings events because I always feel like, "These people get it! These people get me!" I feel at home. lol. I'm very much an oddball in my family when it comes to sports, especially because I'm female. No one gets it! My Minnesota people do, though. :D

Since most of you guys aren't going, I'll have all the fun for you. :D

:govikes:

I'm going to bed soon, so tomorrow comes faster. ...I'm pretending that's true, anyway.

You just made me feel really bad about two things - two things I didn't think I would be feeling badly about:

1. I'm going to miss the Dome. I saw the wreckage last time I was in Minneapolis a few weeks ago for a Twins game, but it just hit me, that place was a part of my childhood, and teen years. I played football in the building in high school.! Oy. Oh well..

2. I wish I was going to the draft party! It sounds like a lot of fun.
