McCarron may not last that long based on talent, much less injury. I will agree that Manziel's style of play lends itself to more hits. Tom Brady is as statuesque as they come and that didn't keep him from tearing his ACL. I'm just saying that injuries are unpredictable. It conceivable that Manziel's career could be just as long as Favre (who some have compared him to).
Once that body gets banged up, he's won't be a playmaker anymore.
He's shown he can be just as dangerous from the pocket.
I remember when he got injured against Auburn last season. He injured his throwing shoulder because a defender finally put him in his place with all that running. Still made a few plays with the injury but lost the game when it came down to the wire.
OK, first, that game was 49-42. If A&M had any kind of defense, what he did in that game was more than enough. He only went 28/38 (73.7%), 454 yards, 4 TDs (2 INTs) and another rushing TD. After he was injured in the 4th quarter he returned and orchestrated a 75-yard drive capped by his 1-yard touchdown run to give A&M a 41-38 lead with about 5 minutes left.
AJ McCarron is a playmaker. He doesn't have to run around like a pansy to get the ball to his WR.
Speaking of staredown, didn't Manziel staredowm Mike Evans a lot. Almost every big passing play I seen from Manziel was a pass to Mike Evans.
You're going to fault him for passing it to his best receiver? Got it.
And if you shut Mike Evans down, Manziel takes off running. But AJ is "Captain Staredown" oh ok.

For some perspective: Evans had 1,394 receiving yards in 2013. Deducting them from Manziel's 4,114 season yards still leaves him with 2,720 passing yards, 343 (or approx. one game) fewer than McCarron. Deducting Evans' 12 receiving TDs still gives Manziel 25 TDs on the season, only three fewer than McCarron. Of course, Manziel was forced to throw a ton because their defense was awful, compared to McCarron, who had one of the best defenses in college football. But some fun stats. It will be interesting to watch their careers. Personally, I think Manziel has a higher floor
and ceiling (granted, he's a higher risk as well).
