Arizona Cardinals Field Trip

Post by jackal »

I wanted to go to the HOF game, but I waited too long and missed out, oh well

I just purchased two seats to the Thursday Night Game in Arizona December 10th

Sitting in Corner End Zone Section 432 Row 4 those little bottom seats right before the longer (like 20 row section)

Hopefully its a win and we are costing into a playoff spot at this point...

I know a guy in AZ that says he is going to try and get end zone row 12 seats from his wife's boss so if I'm lucky, I'll be at this game as well

Boon I got really good corner end zone seats 4th row upper deck(56 dollars each) .. from I saw online, most seats
have a very good view. I am wondering about wearing my gear. SF in the old days used to be
okay.. The last time I went with kids I had a few boneheads, nothing major...

Beo do you live in PHX? How are the fans?

I have been debating wearing my gear but I don't like dealing with morons?

I don't have any firsthand experience with games in PHX, but when I have watched us play there (on TV) in the past it looks to me like they are playing on a neutral field because AZ has so many snowbird Minnesotans that show up for the game. I get the impression that you would not only be fine, but that you would have many other Vikings fans around too.

Yeah thanks Texas Vike... I had a feeling it wouldn't be too bad ...

A lot of Fans (well old school fans) don't mind it.. In 2007 in Candlestick I drank
and talked 80's Niners teams and players with a group of them...I went to the stick
for a binch of games (mostly preseason Vikings games) seemed like the more better
the Niners did the worse the fans behaved...Bandwagon Oakland fans I'm guessing ...

This really doesn't have much to do with the Cardinals, but I think it has a lot to do with the general theme of this thread. In my experience growing up almost exactly in between Kansas City and St. Louis, fans tend to be pretty friendly if their team is around the middle of the league. If they're doing really well, they get a bit of top-dog mentality and can be rude. If they're doing too poorly, they will take their frustrations out on everybody. They general vibe of the area/fanbase is a big factor in this as well.

As it relates to the Cardinals: they are likely to be average to above average and don't have a fanbase known for being obnoxious. With no personal experience to base this off of (I only know one Cardinals fan and he's a weird cat, anyways), I would expect you to have a much better experience there than many places.

Both times I've been to that stadium have been interesting to say the least. The game I went to at QUALCOMM was a lot calmer. Good natured trashtalking. No fights from what I could see. Phoenix stadium, not so much. I always go low key to games for that very reason, out of fear of going to jail for assault because I have a very short fuse and low tolerance for drunks. IIRC the two games I went to managed to host about 8 fights, one right next to me started by the guy I bought the extra seats from. One between a wife and her husband where she straight up haymakered him and HE ended up getting arrested for throwing his beer at her. Gotta love Maricopa sheriffs. Two more behind us where people ended up falling down stairs. Countless fights off in the distance too.

The tailgating is awesome. Just don't bring charcoal grills, they wont let you use them. And unless you want to walk 10 miles buy a parking pass.

Yeah Jackal, that stadium is built similar to century link. Built upwards and close to the sidelines. No matter where you sit you get a good view. There are no "nosebleeds"

yeah it sounds like I won't wear my gear... I just don't want the hassle..

I know the last time I went to the Niner's/ chargers preseason game fights all over the place...
That was my last game in SF.... I went to the Vikings/ Browns game at the Metrodome...
it was the first time I saw a guy get kicked out of a game by security. He wasn't fighting
exactly but he had a big group of people about ready to thump him. He was a Cowboys jersey
actually, at a Browns game. He probably got arrested because he started resisting being taken
out and the cops had to drag him physically off the steps. I guess he wanted to finish his argument,
with the section of fans. I actually thought a few of the fans, deserved to be tossed, as well. They
were coming down a few rows, and making it worse. I told my kid, yeah that guy is going to get
kicked out; as soon as everyone was turning around in the section.

Anybody tailgated there before? Would it be worth trying to get a group together before the game? Sounds like quite a few of us may be there.
