I'm just going to create a thread for this signing so it doesn't bottle up the free agency thread.
Vikings signed CB Captain Munnerlyn to a three-year contract with a max value of $15 million.
Munnerlyn is obviously stretched outside at 5-foot-8 and 195 pounds, but he's one of the best slot corners in the game. Still only 26 -- he turns next month -- Munnerlyn turned in a breakout 2013 campaign as a 16-game starter, setting career highs in tackles (74), sacks (3.5), and pass breakups (12). He has four pick sixes over the past two seasons. Look for Munnerlyn to start outside on early downs and cover the slot in Mike Zimmer's nickel package.
I am very excited about this signing because of his versatility. He can play outside and inside, he's a sure tackler, and has great ball skills. Solid move by Spielman

He sounds a lot like Jason Verrett (TCU), whom various posters have eyed for a 2nd round pick, and a bit like Antoine Winfield. All three are undersized but are simply great FB players.

I agree. I've always said, we don't need a whole lot on offense outside of QB and LG. We could add some depth at a few other positions on offense such as WR but outside of that, our offense is mostly set in stone.
As for CB in the draft, I can't see us going CB at 8 but definitely within rounds 2-3. Guys I would like are Stanley Jean Baptiste, Jason Verrett, Kyle Fuller and Keith McGill

Very pleased with this signing. Also, we didn't have to give up too much money to sign Captain. Our secondary is looking better already! Now only if we could find an upgrade at SS...
A Randy Moss fan for life. A Kevin Williams fan for life.
Over the first 12 games of the season, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn rushed the passer 15 times which led to one hit and one hurry. Over the last four games he has rushed the passer 20 times which has led to four sacks, one hit and three hurries.
Per @PFF, Captain Munnerlyn tallied 24 "stop" tackles (losses or no gains) on pass plays alone last year, which led all cornerbacks.
He's also a solid run defender from what I've read.

Munnerlyn is a guy I hoped we would get as soon as I knew he would be available this offseason. We all miss Winfield and it seems like this guy might have the skills to fit into that same kind of role. He's not some big name superstar but he's definitely well known around the league, and not just because he has an awesome name. Love this signing and it's great that we found another key defensive player who is still young and coming off of their rookie contract.
This was an awesome signing but I am not sold on Josh Robinson. I would like to see another CB like Cromartie, Thurmond, Browner come in on a 2 year deal to hold the fort while we develop someone from the draft. I still like Justin Gilbert at 8 but man Mack would be hard to pass up if he was there.
Great to see some solid signings. I was a bit skeptical on how much the Vikings would spend this year in free agency but they're doing a solid job of finding young talented players.
I am glad we finally got something done at cornerback. Munnerlyn wasn't exactly who I wanted just because of his size compared to the WR's in our division, but i think he's a solid addition and definitely better than what we had at the position. Hopefully they Don't plan on him playing outside corner for any longer than just this year. We need to bring in a rookie who can man the outside on nickel formation and eventually take over for Captain on base outside corner and move Captian to slot full time.
