Bowden said Ponder still was maturing when he finished at Florida State. That's why Bowden actually was surprised Ponder was drafted so high.
"We didn't think he would go in the first round," Bowden admitted. "But I've always felt that he was a player with a future."

I agree with this wholeheartedly. He may (and if our luck holds it will be the first year after we cut/trade him) turn into an NFL caliber starting QB.
