Predict the order of finish and records in the NFC North
It is still really early but it might be interesting to see how close we get to our predictions.
Vikes 11-5
Lions 10-6
Packers 10-6
Bears 8-8

It's not important but there's a typo in the word "predict" in your thread title (in case you want to correct it).
Anyway... it's tough to predict the order of finish in this division at all, much less this early. I think the NFC North is completely up for grabs. It's tough to win a division 3 years in a row these days so I'll be an optimist and say the Vikes put together a division-winning season and GB slips to second place (I'd like to see them finish in last). I'll predict:
Vikes 11-5
Packers 10-6
Bears 8-8 (as they work out the kinks of their coaching change)
Lions 7-9

I was being indecisive about that so I left 'em out. I'll make some rough guesses and add them to my post.Purple bruise wrote:Thanks Jim. I wanted to include the predicted records also.

Interesting that you think that the Lions will only win 4 games. Any particular reason? They seem to me to be improved.

you guys really think we will beat out the packers? if we had a quarterback, we could win the entire nfc. i think the division is up in the air, we could finish first, or last in all honesty. it depends on whether or no we can develop some semblance of a passing game. the other 3 teams have 3 very good quarterbacks.

3 very good quarterbacks? That's a bit of a stretch. I know one team has a very good quarterback, but that's it! But, I see your point.mosscarter wrote:you guys really think we will beat out the packers? if we had a quarterback, we could win the entire nfc. i think the division is up in the air, we could finish first, or last in all honesty. it depends on whether or no we can develop some semblance of a passing game. the other 3 teams have 3 very good quarterbacks.

If we improve in a few areas, I feel like we have the most complete team in the North. I probably have a biased opinion, though.
Our schedule is a little intimidating, but if we want to be the best--we have to beat the best. We'll see how it plays out, but I think it'll be tight all year. I just hope we end up on top and get a home playoff game.

We're getting stronger while the packers are getting weaker.
Vikings 10-6, packers 10-6, bears 6-10, Detroit 5-11
I think we split with the packers and sweep the rest of the north.

Yes we all are quite aware that you and your "ilk" hate Ponder and never miss a chance to bash himmosscarter wrote:you guys really think we will beat out the packers? if we had a quarterback, we could win the entire nfc. i think the division is up in the air, we could finish first, or last in all honesty. it depends on whether or no we can develop some semblance of a passing game. the other 3 teams have 3 very good quarterbacks.

Ikr. I could make a topic about grass seed and it would turn into a Ponder bash within an hour.Purple bruise wrote: Yes we all are quite aware that you and your "ilk" hate Ponder and never miss a chance to bash himBut this topic is asking for your win loss predictions and the order of finish in the NFC North (follow along)

Re: Predict the order of finish and records in the NFC Nort
I think you guys are underestimating the Lions. It is entirely reasonable to think all 4 teams in the division will have winning records.
I think the Bears are more likely the bottom dweller this season. Their defense is still aging and they’ve lost Lovie Smith. No indication so far on how well Cutler is taking to Trestman’s offense. They do have decent WR though… Still, their offense depended on the defense’s horseshoe a lot last year, so hard to say they’ll suddenly turn it around.
Lions could blow up in the passing game this year and run off some wins. Their defense is still suspect past the front 4. I think their mis-management of their salary cap really set them back this year.
GB is all the buzz with the new RB, and they will have a winning record, but what have they done on defense? They drafted a new DT, but past that the unit is mostly the same sans Charles Woodson. That to me adds up to another year of the same on that side of the ball. On Offense I wonder if losing GJ will impact them to some extent. I’ve often though their WR corps lacked a true #1, but had 4 or 5 #2s. Thus,in addition to Roger’s elite throwing, you had mismatches. I think losing GJ negates some of that. (not all.)
I think it is very possible that the NFC North winner goes 4-2 in the division this year. Who that is, I do not know. For us it really comes down to Ponder turning the corner and how well the young CBs can do sans Winfield.

Re: Predict the order of finish and records in the NFC Nort
The Lions have been blowing up the passing game, and they still aren't winning much. They have the talent there; they just can't seem to get it right. I think that's probably why people are "underestimating" them. They haven't done a whole lot to earn much respect --and definitely not consistently.
