Did anyone catch Wobby's interview of Matt Birk at Vikings' training camp? Glad to see his enthusiasm about coming back to address the Vikings. Certainly makes me rethink Birk's departure, which was awkward. I thought maybe there was a bit more bad blood behind it, but I have little doubt that it was another failing that can be blamed directly on Childress. After hearing Birk talk in this short interview, I'm really glad he was able to get a ring.
And: Holy ****. Apparently he's lost 60 lbs, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's more. He looks fantastic. Really wish we could see more former players lose the extra pounds that are needed to play in today's NFL. Even a guy who is 6'5" has no reason to be anywhere near 300 lbs in regular life. The NFL would do well to help these guys get and stay healthy after their careers. Not all of them will do it on their own.
