Which Viking will surprise us this coming season?

Post by MV711 »

Could it be any of the following or someone else?

1)Cole-LB
2)E. Henderson-LB
3)Simpson-WR
4)Jennings-WR
5)Carlson-TE
6)Ponder-QB
7)Griffen-DE
8)Cassell-QB
9)Webb-QB/WR
10)Drafted player
11)Someone else

IMO I think it could be Simpson since he had a lousy season last year and he has something to prove since the Vikes had enough confidence in him to bring him back for another year.

Ponder.

And to be honest, I didn't even think twice about putting his name.

Ponder and Wright.

When the Vikings select Manti Te'o with their #25 pick, he will show the world that he has what it takes to be elite in the NFL.

I also expect a better season from Ponder.

Ponder and Simpson.

Of course, I hope more than that, but I feel best about saying Ponder and Simpson.

Back-from-injury surprises. These guys all contended with injuries and were been either written off or ignored by most.

TE John Carlson
WR Jerome Simpson
S Robert Blanton

Carlson was hurt early, never got on track. Ponder was stuck in "one-look and dump" mode, even in his most successful games, so they never connected. Simpson, too, was injured and played well below his potential. Blanton was also injured early in camp and never got a chance, plus he was learning a new position.

Greg Childs. He will play this season. Not saying he will be the best WR in the game, but he will play.

Also, Joshua Robinson will do a great job replacing Winfield.

Logical choices... I think one or two of them could definitely surprise fans this year (in a positive way).

I'll go with Fusco and Ponder. I think both players will take another step forward in their development this season.

Forgot to add Fusco to the aforementioned list. Good choice Mothman...With his nasty streak and physical play he could become the best O lineman we have. We can only hope!!

Cook. He's in a contract year and has a LOT to prove. He has the physical tools but we need him to step up in a big way this season.

I'll go with Robert Blanton and Bobby Felder. I think Blanton will be given an opportunity to win that second safety spot next to Smith and Bobby Felder has gotten some quiet publicity for his work on the practice squad, so we'll see if he can come in work his way into the CB rotation.

I expect Ponder to get better, if he doesn't then I'll definitely be surprised.

Sheesh, Cook is in a contract year too???
the vikes will field a very different D in 2014/15 than next year. JA, KWill, Robison, Griffen, Cook, AJ ALL will be FA after next year....That's HALF the defense!!!!

I think they should make Cook and Griffen priorities and not even let them hit the market.
Keep 1 of either JA or Robison - preferably JA assuming he's willing to take a significant paycut.
I'd love to see them keep KWill until he retires, at the right price. That seems unlikely given the recent restructuring, but would be nice.
AJ - nice to keep as a 4th corner at a 4th corner contract.
