Powers: Vikings said to be quarrel-free

Post by Mothman »

This is a good (and even a bit amusing) read from Tom Powers:

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_221 ... arrel-free
"This locker room is good," Allen said the other day. "We honestly haven't had any kind of anything in this locker room. No quarrels, no nothing. Nobody is pointing fingers. We've got each other's back and we're playing ball."

Allen added that this is rather unusual. Put a bunch of competitive guys in close quarters and, when things get topsy turvy, they usually generate at least a bit of grumbling. But apparently that has not happened during this most volatile of seasons.

That's probably a tribute to Leslie Frazier and his coaching staff, who let players know exactly where they stand, and to the veteran leadership provided by players such as Allen and Antoine Winfield.

Allen is at least being a team leader off the field.

I don't want Allen gone ,but they should restructure his contract, he isn't worth the money used to pay him.

in years past. I think he need to limit his time on the field, a little bit.

So the guy is playing hurt all year with a torn labrum and you want to restructure his contract? So, next year if he breaks the sack record and plays lights out they would restructure again?

Jared Allen is a "team leader off the field" because he was quoted in the paper??

LOL! That's not a good reason? ;)

I think Jackal was probably referring to the line in the article (quoted above) where Powers specifically mentioned the veteran leadership provided by Allen and Winfield.

Unless you have an elite QB, your going to need the rest of your offense to be built up. You can have a decent qb, but if you dont have a good o-line or wr's, your still going to struggle. Some very elite qb's can make any offense functional. qb's like Peyton Manning are a good example. When manning was out with his injury, the colts went 1-15. They did have some crappy backups, but once manning was gone, you realized how bad the rest of the team was. with a qb like ponder, we need the rest of our offense to be built.
