Chris Cook
So, what do we know about Cook's injury? He was coming along so well. I hope it isn't too serious.

broken arm. out 7-8 weeks
Re: Chris Cook
Dan Wiederer @StribDW
In bigger news, CB Chris Cook "more than likely" headed for I.R. with a broken arm. Originally thought to be a broken wrist.

Only way Cook would be back this season is if Vikings made the postseason.
Re: Chris Cook
That sucks.

Re: Chris Cook
5-13, maybe 6-12 if the Rams are playing for a draft pick.
Re: Chris Cook
I thought Jefferson looked alright in his place. Tough break for Cook but I didn't notice a dramatic drop off.

I thought the drop off was dramatic. As soon as Cook was gone, the Bucs took advantage of it and it worked.S197 wrote:I thought Jefferson looked alright in his place. Tough break for Cook but I didn't notice a dramatic drop off.

I think Cook will be badly missed. Hopefully I'm wrong about that.

No way, Jefferson was spot on, those passes were perfect.losperros wrote: I thought the drop off was dramatic. As soon as Cook was gone, the Bucs took advantage of it and it worked.

But Cook is better and was getting better, like the whole secondary. Fraizer cant catch a break. He just cant.

Maybe cutting Bowman and Carr were bad ideas... is Sherels our CB depth after Winfield, Jefferson, and Robinson? Yikes

Re: Chris Cook
I agree on both counts. I posted in game thread that I thought AJ looked good. Granted he gave up some big plays but sometimes the Offense just makes a play. AJ had some great coverage but Freeman made some perfect throws and Williams some ridiculous catches. Sometimes, you just have to tip your hat.PurpleKoolaid wrote: No way, Jefferson was spot on, those passes were perfect.

Or maybe it's just that I'm used to last year when you needed a super wide angle fish eye lens to even see a Vikings DB after a 30 yard catch

Sucks for Cook though, he seemed to be progressing pretty well. Good news is that it's not an injury like an ACL when it's not clear if the player will EVER return to form......still feel bad for Griffen.
For the first time in a long time I actually feel good about the CB position long term. Cook, Robinson, we'll see if AJ works out.......Winfield for a couple more years.......things look good......
Now if they can just address QB, WR, LG, RT, S, MLB, DT...........Vikes could be a playoff team!!!!!!!

The guy just can't get a break...

Re: Chris Cook
I agree with most of what you're saying, but here's how I see it. I like Cook's work a lot and think he's been underrated at what he's done this year. Once he was out of the game, it seemed to me that the Bucs knew they could now involve Mike Williams on some big plays. The passes were great, yeah, but watch the tape of Williams running his patterns on those plays. He out-jumped Jefferson, beating him physically, and simply beat Robinson with precise footwork. In fact, he humiliated Robinson, who was practically stumbling from trying to stay with Williams.PurpleKoolaid wrote: No way, Jefferson was spot on, those passes were perfect.

Don't get me wrong here. I'm delighted the Vikings drafted Josh Robinson (who I think will develop into a quality DB) and they were smart to sign A.J. Jefferson. The Vikings have much better CB depth now than last year. I guess I'm just saying that a healthy Cook matches up better against an elite WR than Robinson or Jefferson can. That can be (and was) a big drop off to me.

Were Carr and Bowman signed by anyone? They would be better than nothing I would think... right?
