You know I'm one of the happiest people out there about this! I've been a Lesnar fan for as long as I can remember!

I saw the event as well. Been a big MMA fan for about 2 years. If anyone who saw this show didnt thoruoghly enjoy it there isnt a chance you will like MMA. UFC 87 was a great show top to bottom. Lesnar was awesome! The main event also delivered!

he's a brawler, he'll never be a great MMA heavyweight. He's more publicity than talent.

Brawler? Not sure I'd describe him that way. Kimbo Slice is a brawler and will never be a great MMA heavyweight. Lesnar has a chance, but I think he'll end up being like Mark Kerr, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman. Just too reliant on his strength and wrestling. He's still a threat though. Bob Sapp almost murdered the current UFC Interim champ Nogueira, almost exclusively because of his size and strength. A number of the top guys are smallish heavyweights, and Lesnar is just plain massive, especially in the UFC with the ceiling at 265 (I wonder what he actually weighs come fight time).
It'll come down to how much he actually wants to work on his jiu jitsu, especially submission defenses.

I couldnt disagree more. He is well on his way to being a great heavyweight. He has had 3 MMA fights and the sky is the limit. The guy is a former NCAA Heavyweight Champion so calling him a brawler is a bit misinformed imo. He defeated Herring last weekend and Herring should have beaten the Current UFC Champion. (For those that didnt see the fight he had Nogueira "on the ropes" but let him up for some reason. His wrestling skills are purely dependant upon his size and brute strength as opposed to technique. I haven't seen any jiu jitsu skills, not a very good kickboxer, overall he just isn't very technically sound. I will admit the heavyweight division isn't that strong, so he might have a chance at becoming the champ. I personally prefer the light heavyweight and lower divisions.

don't they have weight classes in ncaa wrestling and wasn't he a great college wrestler? It couldn't all have been dependent on his weight.

Part of that is weight cutting though. UFC has weight classes also. If anything Lesnar is one of those wrestling guys who doesn't really understand MMA yet. He gets on top of you, but doesn't know how to finish a fight. With his strength, he should have finished Heath Herring in round 1. So he's got a lot to learn about ground and pound, let alone the grappling and standing striking facets of the game.
That said, he's a tremendous physical specimen, and if he has the will to learn this ####, he will contend for a championship sooner rather than later.
