Didn't the Vikings draft Harvin that year.and signed Favre (might be wrong). And I do think that they had their sights on Locker but what is the point he was trying to make  Who should be fired for what :?:

They wanted Gabbert first and if he wasn't available they were pushing for Locker. Thank God Jacksonville saved us from that sorry excuse of a QB. Then the Titans beat us to Locker. However we still had a chance to get Andy Dalton or Colin Kaepernick. I agree on whoever scouts these QBs need to be fired.

If they are still around I say "off with their heads".

Hey scouts are scouts, they do the leg work but they don't decide who to draft. Spielman, the Owner, Childress and Frasier are to blame on QB prospects

Off with their heads? I thought you were perfectly content with Ponder?

Josh Freeman happy to 'pump the brakes' with Vikings "Josh Freeman officially joined the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night after passing a team physical. His reasoning for joining the team is a little surprising".

I don't really mind that. Let Cassel start until/if he fails. I appreciate Freeman not being a punk about starting right away.

Bill Walsh couldn't turn Ponder into a useful QB. He CAN'T THROW THE BALL!!! The most basic function of an NFL QB is often a struggle for him. He is T-Jack all over again! He can not consistently hit wide open receivers. All the coaching in the world will not help him throw the ball accurately. If he can't do it by now, he never will!

It's just like "QB Guru" Trent Dilfer said. He may look great throwing in workouts when he knows exactly where his receiver will be and when, and with no defense to worry about. But under pressure, at game speed; even his completions often require his receivers to make adjustments that a contortionist would be proud of.

Ponder has to be done as a Viking. I don't care how Cassell or Freeman play. Under no circumstances do I want to see Ponder taking a meaningful snap in purple again. We've seen enough. I wish him well in his life. And with a ton of money and a gorgeous wife, he should have a good one. But he should never be a starting NFL QB again. And you know something; the way he looks out there sometimes, I think he may be more than okay with that. He has often to me looked like he just didn't want to be there.

Agreed with majorm. Can't take Vikes seriously until they move on from Ponder.

Not surprising. This is common.

Sure sounds like Spielman told Josh Freeman what to say during QB's introductory interview

Agreed. I assume a player in Freeman's situation has had some coaching on how to respond to media questions.

Yeah, but we usually can't hear it being whispered to the player just seconds before the player paraphrases his GM. If you haven't listened to the interview (linked in the article) it's worthwhile. This is really funny and a bit embarrassing for Spielman.

I listened to it and it is funny.

That's not common, is it? I mean, that really sounds pathetic... like Spielman clearly thinks his voice is inaudible. You'd think they'd run a mic check ahead of the interview, right? I guess it's pretty small potatoes in the larger scheme of things and isn't terribly surprising... but it is usually covered up a bit better.
