That's the only downside to the foe option, if someone else quotes a person on your list, you will see it. Still, it cuts down a large amount of what you don't wish to view.

Joe Webb - QB - Vikings

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities suggests the Vikings may shop Joe Webb this offseason to a team that runs a read-option offense.

In Webb's lone quarterback appearance of 2012 -- the Wild Card playoff loss to Green Bay -- he moved the offense in the read-option before OC Bill Musgrave inexplicably used a traditional look the rest of the way. 2013 is a contract year for Webb, so this offseason would be Minnesota's last opportunity to get something for him via trade. He might bring back a seventh-round pick.

veteran backups are important. joe webb is just awful as a qb.

I think folks need to face up to the fact that Webb is a bust. He is NOT a rookie. He has had a few seasons of experience under NFL coaches and he hasnt panned out as a QB, he hasnt shown them some surprising potential as WR or they would have used him as such when the team was sorely lacking in WR's. Stop worrying about our Purple Tebow and start thinking about real players with real potential at a realistic position......we need bonafied WRs, OL, and yes...a real QB capable of not ruining historically epic seasons by AP.....

Doesn't mean they'll find a buyer, but why not? He's going nowhere in Minnesota. A sixth rounder would be a nice pickup for a guy you have no use for. Shop him now, before you draft a QB and/or sign a veteran backup and his release looks imminent.

I respect Joe Webb as person; he is a nice guy. However, as a QB, he sucks. Time to move on.

Webb is a backup, that's it. I admit, he was unprepared for the game in the playoffs and im not judging what I think of him after just that one game. I think he is a great athlete and a great person to have come into the middle of the game or do some trick plays with, but no, he is not a starting caliber player.

I wouldn't call Joe Webb a backup quarterback. I'd say he's either a wide receiver or a running back and always has been. He had a college coach who used him very effectively that way.

Watching Joe Webb play quarterback is like watching Randy Moss as an emergency quarterback but with a slightly tighter spiral. Randy Moss completed a few passes too, but no one ever thought that, with all his athletic ability, that he should hold a clipboard and back up some guy.

Joe Webb is still 6' 3" and fast as a deer. He's played wide receiver fairly well and showed some real second or third day potential. His draft stock dropped entirely due to his coaches (and his own personal preference probably had a hand in that) insistence on trying to make him into a quarterback. Then Childress did the same thing. Then Frazier kept it going. At some point, they have to cut their losses and turn the guy into a wide receiver or dump him. When it comes to backup quarterbacks, you always want to have a spot open for a guy you have a good feeling could step in and start if/when your starter gets hurt or bolts for a huge payday in free agency. That's a real serious problem, because even mediocre quarterbacks can expect huge paydays from desperate teams. Too many crappy teams know that if they throw a rookie in the mix, that guy won't be prepared and his chance of developing will be slim to none. I haven't seen anything out of Webb to make me think he's a guy who can take over and perform as well or better than Ponder.

If they think what hes contributing to our team right now is better than what he would be contributing if he was a wide reciever, he must really suck at wide reciever. Hes very fast, but hes not built like a running back. I kind of feel bad for him because he is such a great athlete but just not super great at any one position. He would probably be good at track and field or something, but he doesn't excel at any one position, which makes him not a great NFL player. The only thing I could see him doing in the future is running some trick plays once in a while (which I really think the vikes should take advantage of).

I think the playoff game killed whatever value we might have had in shopping him. We should have shopped him at the end of last season. He was beyond awful in that playoff game and I think his career as a QB is over. The only thing that might save him is if some team plans to go heavy on the blazer/wildcat packages, but that fad is quickly dying in this league too.

Doesn't matter. Much more important was that it was a wake-up call to anyone in the Vikings organization who didn't already realize that Webb has no future and that the team has no legitimate backup QB.
