This is kind of funny, but lost in this is that the Vikings aquired a very servicable backup QB with the 199th pick in the draft. A guy a lot of people wanto to see start. Maybe this front office isn't so terrible in the later rounds.

I think Webb's greatest strength is his ability to come and be a change of pace guy. He is showing progress, but he still isn't a passer at even Ponder's level and that is what you need in a QB. Still, not bad for the 199th pick.

Why do a lot of people want to see him start? Because the guy in front of him isn't very good either. Thanks to the front office that put the QB situation into this mess.

Hey, let's acknowledge the fact that a QB usually needs four or five seasons at the NFL before becoming truly competitive. That's the time it takes for a QB to effectively read defenses, which is a skill developed only by experience, no matter how they play offensively.
Ponder was literally thrown into the field to save the season, and in my opinion he actually did quite well for a rookie...in fact, he delivered a greater performance than what we had seen from the veteran underachieving McNabb.
We should trust Ponder...from what we've seen, he currently deserves the right to have a serious chance at the position, and our full support to succeed.

I doubt Demi would complain if the Vikings won the Super Bowl. In fact, I would expect him to be quite elated just like the rest of us.

Sure, Demi, may be negative, but that doesn't make him any less of a fan than you or I. Hell, I am more pessimistic about this team than I use to be, I am sure I 'complain' too.

Demi is correct though, Joe Webb is not exceptional. Ponder hasn't shown us that he is special either. Does that mean Ponder won't be special? Not necessarily. However, what sort of precedent did either Joe Webb or Ponder set that would allow any of us to be sure that either of the two will be special this season?

Why continue dividing his time when he's supposedly showing very little pass-catching ability? I think they're better off letting WRs play WR and giving Webb a chance to focus all his effort and energy on developing as a QB. H either prove himself at the position or he won't but it seems to be where his athletic gifts are most effective.

That's his opinion. Whether or not you view it as correct or a complaint or anything else doesn't give you the right to go above the rules and call him out.
