Hes a St guy at BEST. Just a low life player that was cheap enough for Rick to sign. I doubt he touches the ball as a RB more then 20 times all year. We still only have 1 RB when this team is going to need at least 2 solid ones. I guess Kubiak can draft one though lol.
No Rick signed him because he was at the top of the league in average kick return yards. Not because he was a "low life player that was cheap enough for Rick to sign".....whatever that even means. This is where some research on your end would go a long way
Basic reading comprehension... i said he was here for ST. He is a just run of the mill average at best, RB. He doesnt fill a void. Its not even worth mentioning.

Lol ok I guess I have “basic reading comprehension” then. Last time I checked we currently do not have a kick returner on this roster because I’m betting they don’t want Hughes back there given the ACL injury. Which means that does fill a void at kick returner. So it is worth mentioning.

One thing I'll say for Rick in terms of his offensive moves that should provide some hope:
He's due
He's had a lot of misses and some really bad luck. The way I look at it, he's been far better, and maybe luckier, on the defensive side, and the Vikings have managed to keep that talent in the fold. So if Spielman can get a lucky turn this offseason with his offensive moves, ala signing Case Keenum as his 3rd string QB in 2017, then maybe, just maybe, the entire team can surprise to the upside.
And it's not like he needs to address the skill positions. He's got to find that OL talent, which, luckily for him and for us, can be found in the later rounds of each draft as easily as in the earlier rounds. And this is fairly flat OL class, which means there isn't a huge drop off in terms of talent or potential from the top guys to the guys who should be on the board in the later rounds. With a little luck and great coaching plus the continued improvement of guys like O'Neill, well, there is reason for hope yet.
Well if the OL class is flat why waste the 1st rounder on one of these guys. Wait later on and get the same value. I'm hoping we are open to any position. If that QB Lock drops he better snatch him. We also need a WR. We don't have a 3rd guy or any depth. It's proven that Diggs will miss time so we need somebody. Who cares if we block well if there's no one to throw to.

I ALREADY SAID HE WAS SIGNED FOR NOTHING MORE THEN A ST PLAYER...why is that so hard for you to understand?

You literally just said the signing wasnt worth mentioning. And given the fact we dont have a KR, it is worth mentioning. Since that is indeed a position of void on this roster. So chill out and move on dude

I agree I dont want us to go in with O-line blinders on and pass up on a better talent. I'm sure some will tweak if we dont take an OL round 1. Guys tweaked after we didnt overpay an average to below average OL in free agency. I'm sure the draft would be worse. Either way, I would take Lock for sure. As for WR, when we have Diggs and Thielen, I dont think drafting a WR in the first just to make him a #3 is a waste. No different than CB. Especially when both of our WRs will be here for a long time. Outside of those two positions, I'm open to everything. Except a first round punter

Its not going to be a terrible mistake to go OL at 18. There are going to be several really good OL players available there. The only question is the strategic question. For instance 18 will probably be the only option to get a great DT prospect or top LB prospect or one of the best TE prospects. I won't be devastated if the Vikings go in that direction, but I really think playing it a bit conservative and making sure you get two starters on the OL with the first two picks is not a bad approach this year. Our need matches up well with the strength of the draft this year.

The way this draft is setting up -- and thankfully Kyler declared because that means one more team is going QB and not taking OL -- the Vikings can get an impact, long-term starter in both the 1st round and again in the 2nd or 3rd round. I have always been of the idea that you take BPA, but 18 is almost no man's land and you're going to get a far greater return on taking one of these top Olineman in that spot. It's really a no brainer. It will get interesting if a guy like Hockenson or Oliver is still available, but I doubt that will be the case. If guys like that fall though, or say there's a QB up there like Haskins that a team is eyeing, but passed on in picks 1-15, the Vikings could really do themselves a favor and trade back and collect more picks. Either way, there's going to be impact offensive line help well into the 1st round and guys in the 2nd round that will be day 1 starters. I think it's setting up nicely for Minnesota.

Speaking of Cap space, can somebody please explain something to me? I'm clearly not very smart on the subject but I thought I saw that we only have like 1.8 million or something left in cap space. Since I haven't heard that anybody other than Grif restructured their contracts how are we going to pay any more FA's when we still have to pay the rookie class? I'm probably missing something but I just don't see where that money is coming from.
There is a top 51 rule. Im not full clear on it but only the top 51 contracts count so when they sign someone like Bailey... Someone's 500k fell off for his 1000000. So in theory we got Bailey for 500k.

Hernandez falling to us last year set up greatly too. We still have to close the deal.

Different draft, different team. The Vikings still had more promise on the Oline prior to last year. Guys got hurt and others' play declined considerably. I agree that it doesn't matter until it happens (drafting offensive line), but it's not really apples to apples.

I've found people on this sight will defend any and everything. The Shamar Stephen signing was a horrible move. That money should have gone towards the oline. We have 2 guys there for starter and depth. Any additional money for the dline needed to be the low deals we are spending on STARTERS for the oline. Does no one find that horrible. On a dline like ours we can't afford on of 4 players to be below par but out entire oline is below par. We keep throwing resources at the Defense and neglecting the offense. Theilan hasn't even gotten a raise. I hope he holds out and Rick gets fired.

It's just hard to judge completely when the offseason has pretty much just begun. I think the Vikings FO is very much aware of the state of the offensive line. And I'm sure they may have liked a FA or two, but all the guys that could help the team cost more than the Vikings could afford for any one player.
It's easy to say we should have signed a FA lineman, but who is everyone suggesting? It's free agency, so these players, as I alluded to, got to choose where they wanted to go. More times than not, it's the team that can pay them the most...Minnesota wasn't that team. They wanted to bring back Easton...The only reason why the didn't is becuase N.O. offered more money. That's why you see funds being redirected at guys like Stephens becuase even though they need big help along the offensive line, they still needed a replacement for Richardson (who they also wanted to keep, but couldn't afford).
I'm just not seeing the options out there that would benefit the team more than grabbing a few Oline guys in the draft. They'll be cheaper, younger and better. Now, if they go through this draft and don't really address this issue, then yeah...I'll agree.
And I think Elflein is above average and Reiff is serviceable...O'neill has shown a TON of potential and he may be the teams new LT...This to the point of the entire Oline being below par. That's just not true. They really only need 2 starters and they'll be just fine.

Not really. We had 2 holes at guard. We decided to move a tackle to fill one.
Sounds like the same issue this year. Two holes at guard... Rumors of moving Reiff to fill one.
