Disagree.
This is a weak free-agent class. The Vikings didn't have the cap space to go after anybody of quality. They're going to address needs during the draft.
I agree that this class was a weak free agent class. I also did not expect them to sign anyone. However you have to admit that some of their dealings have been very peculiar. For instance, not extending or reducing Rudolph salary. I don't believe we will resolve the offensive line in the draft. If it was a defense that whole I would be very confident it will get filled but the way we have been addressing holes the last 2 years leaves me with doubt. Shamar Stephens at 4 million a year is laughable when we have almost nothing at the offensive line. We tagged Anthony Harris for the same amount of money that haha Clinton-Dix signed for. I am thinking it's time that spielman be fired. No plans for grooming a DT in last seasons draft. A surplus of DEs and we keep drafting each season.
I forgot about Stephen. So that's Barr and Stephen that they can sign but not one OL. Not one.
What is the plan here? Turn the other way and hope the problem fixes itself? Let Kubiak do his magic?
Every off-season I hear about how you can't draft OL to fix the problem immediately. Yet somehow people are saying to be patient because the fmdraft is coming. Really? So somehow we are going to get a good (not even great} OL through the draft? Why didn't we do it before then? It would have been cheaper.
It just astounds me how excuses fly out every off-season for the same problem. THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

I know, right? It's like this.
Fans: "Our offensive line is terrible, it would be really difficult to make it much worse."
Rick: "Oh yea? Here, hold my beer!"

It does seem pretty repetitive. Moving O Lineman to different position, bring back guys that have been in the system before. If I didn't know better I could swear I was watching Bill Murray's Groundhogs Day instead of an actual NFL team.
The closest the team has gone to returning to the Superbowl was re using old man Favre, and bringing in the escape artist Case Keenum. Those were bold moves, everything else this team has done is just conservative, by the book, team assembly.
Looks like the 2019 team will be another will they make the playoffs or not year.
What about the Redskin game when Nelson couldn't catch a pass. That was closer than anything I've seen. Keenum didn't get us close. The Eagles destroyed us. I don't call that close. And that's with everything breaking right for us until that point. Yes Farve got us close and that was with a great OL and he still took a beating in that game. He threw a bad pick. Bottom line Keenum blows. Any team could have had him. They weren't falling over each other for his pop gun services.

It won't be fixed through the draft. If we get very lucky we will get one starter. And FA didn't have a bunch of stars either so the CAP didn't even matter. The NFL as a whole is lacking OL and the best will fly off the board early. Maybe our new OL guy will help the most. That's our only chance.
You are forgetting all the misses in this.
A 4th overall at LT.
A 1st for Patterson.
A 1st for TB.
A 1st for Bradford.
Spielman has attempted to better the offense, he just sucks at it. Even his two best finds, Diggs and Theilen, were the result of Scott Turner's scouting (Diggs) and being lucky enough to have Adam play college ball at Mankato and being from MN. He is from anywhere else and he is probably on another team right now.
I mean does missing on Kalil and TB really mean Spielman sucks at building an offense? Teddy had a freak injury and Kalil was a pro bowler that was his own enemy. He was the right pick. Blackmon and Claiborne were flops. You’d be pulling the trigger on Kalil too. And probably teddy. They are misses when they actually suck from the start and never see the field. That wasn’t the case
They are misses with context, but they are misses.

The bottom line is Bradford went down and our backup QB came in and we went 13-3 and NFC title game.
You can't ask for much more than that.

I'm really liking Cody Ford at 18 if Jonah Williams is gone.

Yes you can. The Eagles won the SB with a backup QB. But I agree 2017 was a great year for us. Good job by Zim I think.

Based on the mocks I've seen Ford should be there. This could be one of the strangest drafts I ever saw. Looks to be edge rush heavy. Typically the top few picks are known. SB nation has us taking Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State. Supposedly a great pass blocking LT that lacks power. Getting LT fixed would be a good move.

Wow, its best not to question Rick or they feel your wrath hah.
Yeah my "wrath"? I pointed out that at the time Teddy and Kalil were both the right picks and that their careers were derailed in other ways. Not sure how that is wrong saying that? Go troll someone else please

It's something that is out of a GMs control. So I'm not sure how you can fault him for those picks. Someone like Patterson, yeah, expected to be a stud WR that was nothing but an athlete that couldnt run routes. THAT is a miss. But Kalil being a pro bowler and then having knee issues and Teddy having a catastrophic knee injury arent misses. That's called bad luck. No different than someone like Shariff Floyd. He looked very good early on and had a bright future and then complications during a meniscus repair and his career is done. Again....bad luck.

Every player in the NFL has injury issues. But lets try and protect Rick from another failed Olineman. Because thats what important. Not Rick making this a better team since he came to the Vikings. He is like our own Matt Millen.

The Vikings re-signed Ameer Abdullah. Can't find any details on the terms of the deal, but he's back for 2019.
I suppose he's a good kick returner, and he'll be OK as the 3rd running back.
Hes a St guy at BEST. Just a low life player that was cheap enough for Rick to sign. I doubt he touches the ball as a RB more then 20 times all year. We still only have 1 RB when this team is going to need at least 2 solid ones. I guess Kubiak can draft one though lol.
No Rick signed him because he was at the top of the league in average kick return yards. Not because he was a "low life player that was cheap enough for Rick to sign".....whatever that even means. This is where some research on your end would go a long way

If the best go off the board early, why do we wait to mid rounds to add guys.
