First off, I am enjoying this discussion regardless of the fact that you and I disagree. First off,I would take Kap/Wilson over TB any day and any time.Purple bruise wrote:PHP:
"The quote I put above regarding him staring down receivers is literally the complete opposite of TB. And sure he can run but like I said, how many dual threat QBs make it in the NFL anymore??? TB is a pure pocket passer, also the complete opposite of Mariota. Poise, composure, going through progressions, and being a pure pocket passer.....I would take any day over a dual threat QB. Newton, RGIII, Vick, Kap/Wilson (saved by good defenses), etc...they are far from elite QBs. TB is athletic enough to get out of the pocket if he needs to, that's all I ask for. I don't want a guy that runs all over the field like Cam and RGIII but can't carry their teams to victory.
You keep talking about TB's poise in the pocket/composure but mostly I see him poised alright but then I see him missing wide open receivers, checking down way to quickly, and that to me negates his poise and composure by a mile. Secondly until/if the Vikes do not fix their o-line then screw a pocket type passer because they will be destroyed with the current line. That, in of itself, would be a great argument for drafting or acquiring a QB such as Wilson/Kap and surely Mariota.
So you stay patient with TB and I will hope and pray that he can develop into the franchise QB that we all have been waiting for but I have my very very strong doubts that he will be.[/quote]
It is an enjoyable discussion!! It's funny we usually agree on almost everything except regarding TB. All in all, we both make valid points toward the argument. I just don't want to stray too much away from TB at this point since that is what the thread is about. My biggest thing with Teddy is, we just have to give him time. As many have said before, all rookies have their struggles year 1. The big test will be next year and we will have to see what the organization decides to put around him. There isn't a chance they give up on him after year 1. Serious question though, has that ever even happened to a rookie QB??
