And hopefully keep the front office from reaching for a QB just because Cassel and Ponder are the only ones on the roster. Good short term and possibly longer term signing.
Yep. And he won't eat away at AD's prime years during his "development" as a rookie QB would.
Ponder will never start another game for the Vikings.

I guess keep an eye on the waiver wires over the next couple days. My guess it would be ponder or MBT getting the walking papers.

We just went from junk (Ponder) to hot garbage (Freeman)

That sure screams of the Vikings planning on him playing at least a bit this year. If Cassel loses the next couple games, Freeman is our franchise QB. (Assuming he transitions nicely to our offense.)

You don't sign Freeman on a one-year deal to have him hold a clipboard. Captain Noodle-arm is done.

Does this show some of you guys that what you hear in interviews or in newspaper columns that Spielman and Frazier aren't as stubborn or as dumb as you'd like to hope?
Spielman is on his grind and I respect and appreciate it.

you mean $3,000,000
but yea I figured since tampa still had to pay him his remaining salary this year, they grabbed him for the minimum. But I guess not. you don't bring someone in to be a backup and pay them $3 mil.

Cya Ponder!!!
Pretty excited to see what Freeman has for us. If he sucks, no biggie, we have the draft. If he does great, resign him and we have a franchise QB who will only be 26 next year.
Oh and just food for thought: In 2011, 22/31 243 yards 1 TD and 1 INT against us and a win for Josh Freeman. In 2012, Freeman was 19/36 for 262 yards, 3 TDs and no INTs for another win.

Wonder how long it will take him to learn playbook? Musgrave has about as vanilla an offense as anyone in NFL,at least Freeman has a big arm that might be able to stretch the field a little

What's to learn besides the verbiage? He could go out there and just call plays as it is "run to the right" or "short pass to Carlson". We telegraph our play by our #### formations anyway. At least the threat of a long pass is somewhat believable with Freeman. I really hope he's out there week 7.
Its possible he starts week 6 too. Has all week to practice still and he's in football shape.
