I guess they figured that as a rookie he quickly admitted to his mistake and thus they won't pursue it any further.

That and the ref looked to be overly aggressive with one of his hands up around Smith's neck.

I was wondering if that would play into it. Players definitely shouldn't touch refs. By the same token, no ref should be aggressive with a player, especially one who is already hot under the collar at an opposing player.

He does kind of remind me of "Hit Man". (Plus he wears an awesome Jersey number :wink: )
