Question for you guys. This seems to vary by age but which of these two do you consider our true rival? Which do you despise the most?
I was born in 1980. By the time I was old enough to care, I learned to hate the Packers. I circle the games on the calendar. I tune in to their games just to hope they lose. I can’t stand anything about them and the worse the do the better. Also, I think their fans are pretty awful and entitled.
That said, my parents have the same disdain for the Bears. Everything I just said is how they said they grew up feeling. For me I hardly notice the Bears unless we’re playing them. But I get it.
Who you got?!

Re: Packers or Bears
I am 71 and watched other teams prior to the Vikings first season in 1961. Prior to merger there were two leagues, NFL and AFL. Most considered the NFL the stronger of the two until after merger.vikeinmontana wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 10:38 pm Question for you guys. I followed the Colts and Jonny Unitas and the Packers and Bart Starr prior to the Vikings arrival. Minnesota was like any other area without an NFL team, we picked a team and followed them. Green Bay didn’t really become a rival until they got into their 30 year stretch of solid QB’s and started to own us. Chicago had some tough solid teams and I thought of them as the team to beat if that is considered a rivalry but it wasn’t like the Packer hatred we see today.
That is the way I recall it but we all look at things our own way. I always watched the Vikings but they didn’t excite me until the Bud Grant era. Before that for the first decade we were an expansion team and didn’t strike fear in our opponents. The era of rabid Vikings fans took off with the Grant teams and has ebbed and flowed with our success and failures since then. Today we have more access to stats and information along with endless coverage on TV and internet. Everyone has stats at their fingertips and fantasy football has created a generation of the most knowledgeable fans in the history of the sport.

Even during the stretch where Da Bears were great I always hated the Pukers the most.

Re: Packers or Bears
Was born in Oct 1964 (just turned 58 this past monday). Been a Vikes fan from the get go thainks to a Viking fanatic father.
After the Hail Mary I've hated the Cowgirls ever since. Also since Bountygate I've hated the Saints ( and anything involving Sean Peyton and Gregg Williams).
As far as Bears and Packers? I will be honest and say for years it would Flip flop. Some stretches it would be the Bears and other stretches it would be the Pukers.
But now it's a consistent hate of the Packers. Especially since Erin had been the QB.
So.... Pukers for me!

I just wanna die as a Super Bowl Champion Viking Fan!!
