You must not see the games. Watch the last two times they meet the 49ers in the playoffs. The 49ers dominated the LOS. IMO that means your OL is not playing well. That's talent level issues. The Rams OL which is better played better against the same team. As they say when the going gets tough the tough get going. That's how the Bengals marched to the SB. That's how the Bucs did it. That's how we didn't do it in 17 and 18. That 49er team in 18 dominated the LOS against us and the Pack. That's why they won.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 9:31 amIf their Oline isn't good enough than no Oline is good enough.CharVike wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 9:26 am
These people that say you can't build around a contract are wrong. The Packers gave Rodgers 50 million and basically people must think they can't build a team now. They can't build a team because they don't draft well. They pick a QB in round 1 when their OL isn't good enough to protect the QB against the better teams.

If their Oline isn't good enough than no Oline is good enough.
Stafford was pressured on 25 % of his drop backs against the 9ers, Rodgers 19% in the CC.
As for Burrow, he was sacked 19 times in his 4 playoff games and was never pressured less than 30% of the time. In the CC he was pressured 40.5 % of his drop backs. That oline sure stepped up.

Interesting. Really glad we extended a guy who even the Browns didn't want. The Browns’ current quarterback, Baker Mayfield, had stopped communicating with the team. Mayfield and his representatives believed the Browns were going to trade for Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins given Stefanski’s prior relationship with Cousins in Minnesota, but the Browns were never interested in acquiring Cousins. Berry told Mayfield’s representatives at the NFL combine that the Browns may pursue one of the elite quarterbacks that could be available, such as Russell Wilson or Watson. Other than that, the team intended on bringing Mayfield back to be the starter in 2022.

Ehh, I disagree. Just saw that our projected cap for next year is $41.2 million according to Over the Cap. I think this front office is doing a good job mitigating the amount they are kicking down the road. They could've easily restructured guys like Kendricks and Dalvin and didnt. Same with Danielle as of right now. Like clearly they have to do it somewhat so they can free up space but they've done a good job trying to at least minimize it.JJBreaksRecords wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 9:33 am We cant build around Cousins and his contract for the next 2 years. I dont think there are any more deals to do other maybe than getting rid/trading AT and Smith. The next 5 years might be harder than the last. Unless we can trade Hunter (which no one wants I dont think) and a few other things. We kicked the can(s) down the road this year again and it will hurt.![]()
So yeah, given our projected cap for next year, they 100% can still build around Cousins.

Yeah the cincy line was baaad. It's why they've spent $ to rebuild it via fa this off-season. Including OT Collins from Dal.

Be interesting to see if it works for them. They've got the stud qb on rookie contract, building out rest of roster with FA, model going on.

The context around that cap number is that the Vikings currently sit at 28th in cap space in 2023:Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:47 amEhh, I disagree. We are almost dead last. How is that close to being good? And we havent gotten must in FA, including the Oline, where we need guards asn we also need center, including that one good one, Ketters(?) my mind is drawing a blank, as usual.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:05 pmThe context around that cap number is that the Vikings currently sit at 28th in cap space in 2023:Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:47 am

Re: Watson to Cleveland
I saw what happen. They brought the heat. That's why it's important to pressure a QB. They all go backwards. That's why it also important to have an OL that can block. Burrow made the Super Bowl because that Bengal D didn't fold. They played tremendous ball and shut Mahomes out the 2nd half. He folded. Every game that D played ball. Of course your will bring up some stat that says the D sucked. That Bengal offense scored 5 TDs in 3 playoff games. That's as bad as it can get. Some of them setup by turnovers created by the D. The D carried that team. That's what Zim's D's couldn't do. They didn't want to play ball and got their a$$e$ kicked. That Bengal D did the a$$ kicking. Tannehill was Mr Turnover throwing 3 Ints. He folded. The Titians sacked Burrow 9 times but it didn't matter. His D played great ball.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:07 amLet's see if that is true. Re: Watson to Cleveland
One thing to consider.
Most of us would be willing to give up 1 first rounders to draft a young talented QB that could eventually turn into Watson's level of play. I don't think 3 firsts for him is a terrible haul. Logically, 1st would be spent if you were in a position for draft the player, So you are really just giving up 2 future firsts for a Qb that makes your entire offense better. With the Browns ability to run the ball and his ability to bootleg and make off-schedule throws, Cleveland is going to be tough to beat.
To further strengthen this argument, I think Kirk would had knocked at least 1 of those first rounders off, possible the 3rd rounder as well. I think we would have been able to get Watson for 2 1st (one of which we would have spent drafting a QB). His legal issues are another issue.

Yeah and Over the Cap is saying they will be 23rd. Most analysts I feel like use over the cap but I'm honestly not sure which one is more accurate. Neither ever have the exact number.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:05 pmThe context around that cap number is that the Vikings currently sit at 28th in cap space in 2023:Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:47 am

Again, Over the Cap has them at 23rd and this is the one most analysts use. I mean it's not great, but it's much better than it could be and not New Orleans who's already sitting at -$14 millionJJBreaksRecords wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:02 pmWe are almost dead last.
