Yeah I actually texted Buddy (the guy Tommy lives with) last night and mentioned how I was watching that game on NFL Network. Sure enough he sent a pic back of Tommy reclined on the couch watching it too lolBowhunting Viking wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:33 amThat was a blast to watch wasn't it? I enjoyed it. This was a regular-season game that the Vikings lost in OT.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 11:20 am If Vikings won, Vikings would have murdered the Broncos in the Superbowl
We didn't make the playoffs in '86. You're thinking of 1987.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Burnsie pacing the sidelines looking for someone to cuss at. No headset, nothing.

The core of that '87 team was coming together in '86. There were times when you could see it and this was one of those games.
Kramer was fun to watch when he was on. He wasn't that consistent but when he was in the zone he was as good a QB as there was.

It is a shame about Kramer, if he stayed healthy, I think he would have made the Hall of FameVikingLord wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:18 pm The core of that '87 team was coming together in '86. There were times when you could see it and this was one of those games.

Re: 86 vikes
I had some time to kill last night so I sat down and watched the whole thing again. Like I said earlier, it sure took me back to a younger time lol. I would have just been turning or just turned 21 at the time as my b day is at the end of October. Seems like ages ago.
It was cool having some of the old names pop up again, not only on the Vikes but some of the Skins also.
It was hilarious watching Burnsie prowling the sidelines, as said, no headset. When Kramer lost the ball and Manley picked it up and ran it in, Burns head looked like it was gonna explode!
Like someone else said, Joey Browner was an absolute beast and the guy had some of the strongest hands ever. His coverage on Colemans one punt was amazing. Joey was always one of my very favorite Vikings. He was really into martial arts back then , and I was in my younger days so that even made me like him even more. My sophomore year of H.S. during our 2 week fitness program our head coach took us to Bengals training camp. He had a college roommate who was a member of the training staff. We were able to watch them practice. Then we got to go swimming in the pool with alot of the players just soaking and cooling off and then ate lunch with them. Ross Browner, Joey's brother, was really cool with us and was just like a big kid. Had a blast with him.
When we went to Minny fir a game on my 40th birthday I was able to talk to Joey outside the stadium before the game after he finished a radio broadcast. I told him about meeting Ross and how cool he was. Joey said "Well now you were able to meet the best Browner!" A really cool , nice guy.
It was also fun watching Dave Butz for the Skins. The summer of between my junior and senior I attended a Pro Football camp in Maryland. There were several NFL players there. Billy Sims, Stan Walters, Chris Hamburger ( huge to me I was a huge fan of his and Dad ordered me a cassette tape, yeah a CASSETTE TAPE, he put out about Line Backer play), and Dave Butz. Big Dave was showing us a technique for shedding blocks and grabbed me by the breastplate of my shoulder pads and I swear threw me like I was a G.I. Joe. He was freakin HUGE!!!
Another thing that caught my eye that I guess had escaped my memory was just how big Steve Jordon was then. He just looked so much bigger compared to the other lineman on both sides of the ball.
It was really good to take a trip back and watch it again. I really wish , like posted above, that Kramer just could have stayed healthy. The dude was a helluva QB and it's such a shame the opportunity to really become remembered as a great was robbed from him.
And how the hell can u not like a guy that pisses in PHP's Puker urinal every time he pisses at home, and by the sound if it he is pissing recycled brew quite often!!! That itself puts him in the elite category!

From everything I’ve ever heard or read about, Tommy was a party animal. Things were a lot different in the 70s and 80s, when he played. Nowadays, there’s so much money on the line that pro football players are workout warriors 12 months a a year. They have nutritionists and personal chefs and all kinds of stuff. They take care of their bodies like nobody’s business.
In Kramer’s day, guys worked out starting in training camp. Guys smoked in the locker room and ate whatever they wanted. And a lot of them partied … a lot. Read Joe Kapp’s autobiography. It spells it out pretty well. He called it “blowing off steam.”
All to say, Tommy Kramer’s inability to stay healthy likely was linked to his ability to consume a lot of alcohol.

Go ahead. I dare you.

It is definitely a whole different culture in the NFL, heck in all sports, these days.
It's funny to see the old films of guys sitting in the locker room at halftime puffing away on cigarettes. I'm a nascar fan also, and the old films of drivers sitting in the cars in T shirts and Jean's, one hand on the wheel and the other holding a smoke, is just hilarious. We definitely live in a different world today.
And by what PHP has told me about his visit with Tommy and Buddy, and then Millard and other former players showing up, it sounds like the old boys still enjoy tearing it up!!! Lol
