NFL Draft Day

Re: NFL Draft Day
Not trying to sound like Charlie Brown here, but I think this is the year Rick does not go crazy moving back. He stays put or moves up. He tries to trade into the 2nd without sacrificing the first rounder.
I think another 7-9 season and Rick/Zim are gone. I think Rick knows that. He's not going to draft six 7th rounders hoping they excel on special teams in 2023. He will be aggressive in getting "contributing starters for this season" at spots of need.
Anyone with a substantial injury history is off his board, IMO. Can't risk it with job on the line.
We'll see. I'm looking forward to it no matter what happens.

Re: NFL Draft Day
I'm sure he'll try to trade down in the first round to pick up a 2nd rounder. Hopefully if he can't find a partner he just stays put.

Re: NFL Draft Day
Both AVT and Darrisaw look like they could be perennial pro-bowlers in a year or two. Not sure why you think less of them compared to Slater, but there does seem to be quite a bit of hype around Slater. I see all 3 of them as essentially having the same ceiling and would be happy if Rick took any of them at #14.
Phillips is just too risky and there is not enough production there to justify the risk. He's a good DE. Not great. Good with good measurables and I suppose a decent ceiling, but too risky at #14, especially if Parsons is there. If Parsons is there and Spielman wants an impact player on defense that comes with some risk take Parsons.
Re: NFL Draft Day
I don't see him trading down in the 1st. In fact I see a trade with the NYG to move up to #11 in the 1st, ahead of the LAC. I think this will happen if either of the two tackles are avail after the 10th pick. Rick would love to give up the 2nd 3rd rounder or a pick next year to swap with NYG, but he may have to give up the 1st 3rd rounder if things get hectic.
Then I see something being done with the four 4th rounders to also move up, hopefully into the later 2nd.

Re: NFL Draft Day
You might be right. However, Parsons is showing up around 17ish these days in mocks.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 12:20 pmI dont see those guys going that early. Teams are going to be scrambling for these 5 QBs and 3 WRs. That's 8 picks off the board. Add in Pitts and Sewell is 10 off the board. That leaves 3 unknown picks before we're on the clock. I'd have to imagine 2 of those 3 are Parsons and either Horn or Surtain.Pep2Moss wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:33 am Merry Draftmas everyone.
If his physicals check out I'm convinced the pick is Jaelan Phillips.
Still would love a LT to put there for a decade like Slater or Darrisaw but they will be gone to Carolina and San Diego IMO,.
Maybe deal a 3 and couple 4's for a 2? Grab the best OL?
The Vikings will have their pick of the litter at 14 IMO. Especially in terms of OL and DE. I think this is more reason to trade down.
Mocks. Bwahahahahahaha!
I think you're right about the QBs. There's a ton of chatter about teams trying to move up. I even heard one rumor that New England was trying to trade up to Atlanta's spot at 4 so they can get Justin Fields. It makes no sense to me ... I honestly can't see Fields going that high, so why trade up that high? But that's the chatter. Chances are those top 5 QBs are not going to make it out of the top 10. Add in Pitts, Chase, Waddle and maybe Devonta Smith at skill positions, plus Sewell and the CBs, and you're getting pretty close to the Vikings' at 14.
Unfortunately Slater is going to be gone before the Vikings pick. Everybody loves the guy. Some love him more than Sewell. The Chargers are ahead of us, and their O-line might be worse than ours.
It makes sense to me that the Vikings are looking at AVT or Darrisaw at 14, they might as well trade down. Those two are good, but not demonstrably better than what would be available later in the first.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Aaron Rodgers said he does not want to return, I will be glad when the Packers will finally suck when he leaves
Re: NFL Draft Day
My guess as well. Defense, edge rusher, played for UCLA. It's right out of the Spielman/Zimmer draft handbook.Pep2Moss wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:33 am Merry Draftmas everyone.

These last few hours before the draft starts are worse than being a kid waiting for Santa Claus to slide his big butt down the chimney.

I guess it is a good thing that Packers drafted Love last year but I do not think Love will be any good but it will be interesting if Rodgers will be traded during the draft but I doubt it since it is rare to see a player traded during the draftSpot & Stalk Vike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:05 pmYeah I saw he's really, really not happy. I sure miss the draft on weekends, it is way better than having it for 3 daysVikingTom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:21 amHad to double check this as I was unsure of how long each team had on the clock. Was thinking it used to be 15 minutes in the 1st round. It is 10 minutes, likely putting the Vikings on the clock between 2230 & 2300 CST depending on drama and commercials.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:10 am Draft Day is here!I hope Vikings will draft a player that everyone will be happy with!
It starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time, and each team has 10 minutes to make its pick. The second and third rounds are on Friday; rounds 4-7 are on Saturday. Teams get seven minutes to make picks in the second round, five minutes for regular or compensatory picks in rounds 3-6 and four minutes in round 7.

The pack's GM and coach have apparently flown out to visit with Rogers a few times but his stance is still an unhappy one for whatever reason.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:14 pmI guess it is a good thing that Packers drafted Love last year but I do not think Love will be any good but it will be interesting if Rodgers will be traded during the draft but I doubt it since it is rare to see a player traded during the draftSpot & Stalk Vike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:05 pm

This just in from Jay Glazer:
Jay Glazer
@JayGlazer
Aaron told Packers he doesn’t want to return as @AdamSchefter said and I think it’s more than a contract deal, I think he’s pretty strongly convicted that he doesn’t want to go back to Packers.
OK...enough of GB for now, back to our draft.....sorry for the detour people.
Re: NFL Draft Day
History repeating itself with Rodgers. Favre wanted out and was disgruntled under similar conditions.
