Re: 2019 Roster Moves and Transactions Thread
What's interesting is Seattle cut both Paxton Lynch and Geno Smith, leaving only 1 QB left on their roster, of course being Wilson. I mentioned elsewhere before Sloter was officially released that given the Minnesota/Seattle trade connection, I could see Seattle trading for him. I can now see them signing him to be a backup. Similar-ish style to Russell and Pete, unlike Zimmer, likes these types of talents and gives them a real shot.Mothman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 5:53 pmI agree. BTW, Sloter was released. I wonder if another team will claim him off the waiver wire.PacificNorseWest wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 4:08 pm
Chances are, they dont and he's just released. Secondly, they wasted draft capital with Vedvik, so I feel like the reactions are substantiated.
We'll see...

The plan B will be another zone blocking BS scheme. From what I'm reading we have a serious lack of talent. Elf blows and Kline isn't much better. He was dumped for a reason. So we still have zero at guard. Bradbury will get buried with nothing next to him on either side. I'm a size advocate but I'll never see it on our team. Maybe Drue will beat the odds and be a starter by mid season. That's our only hope. Cousins might get carted off the field this year.

Isidora. That's one from the stupid take. You couldn't get a bag of p nuts for Sloter.Tbolt wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 10:38 pmJust how many trades went down today for players that were about to be cut today? Such a stupid take.CharVike wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:28 pm
He didn't show any improvement. Can't even challenge for the backup spot at this point. Speilman tried and it didn't work out. If there were interested teams we could have gotten a 7th rounder for him. I'm sure they tried. We might bring him back if our CB situation gets straight.

Re: 2019 Roster Moves and Transactions Thread
Pretty sure I explained in my post why they didn't put him with the 2's. People fell in love with his play against the lowest of the low that they didn't realize that he was, again, playing with the LOWEST OF THE LOW. Furthermore, he wasn't good in practice, was never motivated to fix the mental errors he continually made over the past three years, and for all his talent, did not have a great attitude.Tbolt wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 10:36 pmThey replaced Simian with the exact same type in Mannion. How you can’t see that or even bother to question why they never gave him any snaps with the 2’s is beyond me. It was never an open competition and coaches hate being proved wrong.Rhodes Closed wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 6:22 pm
And what will your defense be if it turns out Sloter wasn't nearly as good as he looked against the 3's and 4's?
It wasn't the bravado or confidence that got him waived. It was the fact he wasn't a good player in Practice or made a lot of mental mistakes when not playing the game. Imagine if he went up against the Bears #1 Defense. Do you really have such confidence in the guy to keep calm under those circumstances when he's never sniffed the starting players or even the #2s?
People can piss and moan the decision to cut him all they want, and don't get me wrong, I don't agree with it. I would prefer to keep him around another year or two to let him develop more. But it's not the end of the world. It is never the end of the world.
I would have loved to have kept Sloter for two more years and see how he improves then, but flat out, he was never ready to face higher level talent until he fixed the mental problems. He never did. End of story.
How YOU can't see that, I will never understand.

Saying something false is only a lie if it is accompanied with the intent to deceive the listener or reader whichever the case may be. You need to fix that attitude of yours pronto, because I doubt any of us are going to be willing to get away with telling people to piss off or calling a liar with zero evidence.

An FYI. The Bills released Captain Munnerlyn.
Probably a non-story for Vikings fans, except that we know that Mike Zimmer has a soft spot for veterans, and we're a little thin at corner. Not an opinion. Just news.

Ian Rappaport now reporting the Vikings will release Colquitt as soon as his plane lands. Promising veteran punter Greg Coleman will put down his microphone and be signed later tonight

Britton Colquitt holds several records for the Denver Broncos.
But there's another reason he was brought to Minnesota:
And
I'm going to keep beating this drum until somebody listens. Matt Wile was a good punter, but he also was quite possibly the reason for the struggles of both Daniel Carlson and Dan Bailey.
But there's another reason he was brought to Minnesota:
ArticleSkill-wise, Colquitt has a quiet reputation as a solid place-kicking holder, and I would expect that one of the reasons he was targeted was to upgrade the holding situation, which has been speculated as being one of the reasons the Vikings kicking situation has suffered over the last couple of years.
And
ArticleIn his one Minnesota season, Wile averaged 45.2 yards gross and 41.5 net. But head coach Mike Zimmer was outspoken after the season about Wile needing to be a better holder.
