Why did Kyle Sloter NOT make the roster? Vikings will REGRET this!!!
The cutting of QB Kyle Sloter off the Vikings 53 man roster today was not only STUPID, but it was also inept from a business standpoint as the Vikings received ZERO compensation for him. He just walked out the door. The QB position, as anyone who knows and watches sports, is THE MOST important position in professional sports. As the preseason progressed, an honest Vikings fan would tell you that Sloter was starting to dot the I's and cross the T's. Sloter has a strong arm, he can move around the pocket, he can run, and you could just see the energy that he brings to an offense and he was making some really good decisions. He seemed to be really understanding this new offense and was putting the pieces together. Sloter, still being young, could have been the face of the Vikings franchise in the future. Everyone knows that it is hard to find a quarterback who can put the whole package together and then to be able to stay with the same team.
SO WHY CUT SLOTER?
It has been rumored that Zimmer did not want a possible rising superstar behind Kirk Cousins in order to put unnecessary pressure or to push Cousins perhaps for the starting quarterback position. Zimmer has come out in recent days before the final cutdown day to say some negative things about Sloter so the jury is still out as far as to why Zimmer would cut a potential face of the franchise quarterback. Obviously, we are not there during Vikings practices and team meetings so we have no idea as to what goes on behind closed doors.
Prediction: Kyle Sloter will be signed by another team and the NFL World will find out who Sloter is. The Vikings organization may have just made one of the biggest mistakes in team history in the release of Kyle Sloter, only time will tell.

You should get into stand-up. Biggest mistake in team history ... hilarious! Face of the franchise? Please stop ... my sides are hurting. And Kyle Sloter is going to push our $28-million-a-year starter? That's comedy gold!Purplepain2018 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 7:50 pm The cutting of QB Kyle Sloter off the Vikings 53 man roster today was not only STUPID, but it was also inept from a business standpoint as the Vikings received ZERO compensation for him. Not a single team was willing to give up even a 7th rounder for him. 32 GMs versus unrealistic Vikings fans at this point.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:02 pmYou should get into stand-up. I still think Sloter was a better option than Mannion. We better hope Cousins stays healthy.

This is great guys...you post an opinion on here about the Vikings and J. Kapp whoever that is thinks he can just insult and crap all over somebody. J. Kapp what do you know about football? I guess your a Cousins guy, huh? I hope Cousins plays well too, but what if he doesn't or what if he gets hurt? Are you ready to turn this football team over to Mannion? We need to have a young, up and coming QB on the roster or practice squad for the future. Cousins may or may not be here in a couple of years...what do we do then? The Vikings are not KNOWN for having the best luck with quarterbacks; so why get rid of Sloter who could develop into that.
So you can stop with the insults or whatever that was. Lets see if somebody does sign Sloter and he lights it up and just remember this post and what was said. The laugh will be on you!!!

I thought he was a better option than Cousins (in a year or two).

No. He's being realistic. Something you aren't being right now. Biggest mistake in franchise history? Over the mother trucking Hershel Walker trade? Over trading Randy Moss for nothing? Over drafting Christian ####ing Ponder? Do you get how unbelievably gauche you are sounding right now?Purplepain2018 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 9:26 pm This is great guys...you post an opinion on here about the Vikings and J. How confident are you that Sloter will perform against the 1's despite never playing against the 2's in Preseason in his entire career, despite never having played a down in a real NFL game? Despite the MYRIAD of problems the kid has been having and NOT fixing in practice?
Tone down the apocryphal and apocalyptic preaching.
Was it a mistake to let Sloter go? Sure. I don't think anyone was saying he wasn't a good developmental prospect. But the worst decision the franchise has ever made? Hop off the bandwagon if you really think this is the worst decision in Franchise history.

No way he didn't earn not only a spot on the roster but the back up role. For whatever reason we will never know Zimmer had him in the dog house.

No insults here. But truthfully, you need to grab a serious dose of reality. You say that a guy in his third year who has never played a down in the NFL is going to dominate the league ... and you can't see where somebody MIGHT take that as hyperbole? Hate to break it to you, but Kyle Sloter is not the second coming of Tom Brady.Purplepain2018 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 9:26 pm This is great guys...you post an opinion on here about the Vikings and J. I can't believe how upset everyone is getting over a 3rd string qb. Like someone said above, no one would trade anything for him.
The fans of this team can be almost as frustrating as the team's performance.

I ultimately hope it's a moot point, but if Cousins does go down, he's probably bringing Zimmer and Spielman down with him, metaphorically speaking.
Things probably get real dicey if that happens.

Any team that loses their starting QB are done. That could actually save them. Some teams are done with their starter. Remove Rberger from Pitt and say bye bye to the coach and GM? That won't happen because they have an excuse.PacificNorseWest wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2019 11:51 pm I ultimately hope it's a moot point, but if Cousins does go down, he's probably bringing Zimmer and Spielman down with him, metaphorically speaking.

What you think will happen is actually a blessing for our two. Like all teams we don't have a backup that is at a good starters level.

I do think Sloter looked like the better backup in the preseason. The better backup. Backup.

So, who claimed him off of waivers? No one? Why?

Including at least two teams that only kept one qb (Sea, DEN).
