I am okay with the signing as long as the GM doesn't think this for sure solves his RG problems. He was relatively cheap (for a reason) and going into camp counting on only a rookie to start is as stupid as going into the season and counting on only Kline to start.Bowhunting Viking wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 4:51 am I think the best option here is to just wait till the season starts, see what we do with the O Line, and hope that a change of scenery and a different system will benefit Kline and he will become a very solid player for us, instead of arguing back n forth about his past. Hes a Viking now and hopefully he will fit in and play very well for us. Just a thought

I can just about guarantee that they are going to assess guard in the draft, in possibly more ways than one. We have what? 2 total guards on our roster? Possibly 3 if they are moving Reiff? We just have to wait and seeStumpHunter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 7:34 amI am okay with the signing as long as the GM doesn't think this for sure solves his RG problems. Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
TE Noah Fant is visiting the Vikings today.
He’d be another option I’d be willing to take over OL in the first round. We seem to be going after TEs hard. Visiting with a lot of them. I’m starting to wonder if our first two picks are going to be OL and TE

Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
Current prospects that are on a visit in Minnesota today are:
Iowa TE- Noah Fant
Texas TE- Andrew Beck
Ole Miss OT- Greg Little
I'm sure there are more but that is all I have heard so far.

Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
Yeah I would love to trade down in the first but stay in the round obviously, and then use some of that ammo to trade into the back end of the first. Like maybe have pick 24 and like 30 in the end of it. We would get 2 guys that are 5th year option eligible. Spielman use to love doing that. Hasn’t done it in a few years. Mainly because we’ve been picking later in each round. This could be the year!

I know a lot of people like Hockenson but I think Fant is the guy Rick has his eyes on. He has enough question marks there's a chance he falls further than some thinkPondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:33 pmYeah I would love to trade down in the first but stay in the round obviously, and then use some of that ammo to trade into the back end of the first. . His athleticism will intrigue Rick who is a metrics guy and Fant's SPARQ is in the 94th percentile.

We could move Elfien to to guard and draft this guy in round 2 to pay center. Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
The more i have been thinking about it the more I want
1. Trade back in 1st to 25 and select Simmons (get an extra 4th)
2. Select Hakeem Butler in the 2nd at 18
3. Trade up to end of 2nd to select Eric Mcoy (3rd and extra 4th)
4. Draft Jace (TE) in 4th or Darrell Henderson or Hill (RBs)
5. No picks
6th. Select Powers or Chuma Edoga. Edoga is my sleeper of the draft. Great pass blocker but an average run blocker.
6th. Select an Edge guy they like
7th. Rangy LB
7th. QB Easton Stick or Trace McSorley. I like Trace intangibles. Reminds me of Keenum.

Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
From what I’ve seen, they haven’t even met with Hockenson. We’ve met with Fant multiple times. They are definitely after him hard I think. Also have met with Ford, Little and Dillard multiple times. One trend I’ve noticed on tracking who we’ve met with on Walter football over the years is that guys that we have met with multiple times or had private workouts with we end up drafting a few of them. When I did my late mock a few years ago that’s why I had us selecting Elijah Lee. We met with him a ton before the draft. I’ll probably do another quick mock before the draft for you guysS197 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 3:03 pmI know a lot of people like Hockenson but I think Fant is the guy Rick has his eyes on. Great pass blocker/average run blocker is way better than anything we had last season.YikesVikes wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 6:27 pm The more i have been thinking about it the more I want

Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
That would be a great move. The 5th year is key. 24 and 30 would work great. Could knock off OL and WR or TE ect.. Needs to be O for sure. With that watch it be a LB at 18. Isn't that how it usually gos.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 8:33 pmYeah I would love to trade down in the first but stay in the round obviously, and then use some of that ammo to trade into the back end of the first. Re: NFL Draft 2019 Discussion
I mean LB is shallow on this roster outside of starters. And both starters just landed big contracts so I dont think we would go there. DT is a big need for defense IMO. I would say the only true needs on defense are 3 tech DT and possibly another good pass rushing DE because Griffens time is wearing thin here. Outside of that, there isnt much.CharVike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 9:15 amThat would be a great move. The 5th year is key. 24 and 30 would work great. Could knock off OL and WR or TE ect.. But yeah, Spielman landed multiple 5th year options in 2012 (Kalil and Harry), 2013 (Floyd, Rhodes and Patterson) and 2014 (Barr and Teddy). He hasnt done it since. Granted we didnt have a first round pick in 2017. I could see him pulling that off again this year.
