I'm not disappointed at all with the Vikes draft. Are they "winning the draft", grabbing the most players? No, but they're not exactly losing the draft either. The way I look at it, using 3 picks the Vikes got two good players, and some ammunition to work the draft board to their favor in 2017.

Treadwell could be the best WR in this draft and is the kind of WR this offense needs and hasn't had in a long time. For an offense that's lacked an edge getting this kind of Physical, Aggressive WR can be tone changer.

Alexander gives quality depth and a replacement for Captain Munnerlyn next year. He should be the Dime Corner this year, before sliding over to the Nickle next year. Considering one of the reasons the Playoff game got away was because of injuries forcing Robinson onto the field I can't look at this pick negatively because at least for this year the Vikes are about 5 deep at CB.

I like the trade out of the third because I think it gives them room to maneuver next year that they didn't have this year. If they're able to take those extra picks next year and package them as part of a deal to move up into late first to get a second first round pick, or use them to move up in the second to grab a good player who slips it will be worth the wait.

Some of the best players available that I would really like:

NT- Andrew Billings- Baylor (I have no clue why he is falling so far. He is an absolute beast.)
DT- Sheldon Day- ND (Another beast that can come in and contribute)
OLB- Joshua Perry- Ohio St. (Overshadowed by all the other great players but he is a sound LB)
OG- Christian Westerman- Arz. St. (Big physical guard that can be a starter down the road)
OG- Vadal Alexander- LSU (A solid offensive lineman in this class that could be a great swing guy)
OT- Willie Beavers- Western Michigan (Another good swing guy that might be better suited at OG)
DT- Hassan Ridgeway- Texas (Another big DT that provides solid depth)
DT- Willie Henry- Michigan (Very athletic 3 tech DT that plays fast)
OLB- Scooby Wright- Arizona (Athletic LB that could fill in at WLB)
OLB- Jatavis Brown- Akron (Mayock loves this kid. Small school but freak athlete)
S- Miles Killebrew- Southern Utah (One of my favorites. BIG TIME Hitter)
S- Jeremy Cash- Duke (Big dude thats better at run stopping than coverage)
S- Deon Bush- Miami (Small but all over the field)
S- Jayron Kearse- Clemson (Big dude thats very versatile)

Hoping we get one of those G and one of those S.

Lions: A'Shawn Robinson (projected as 1st rounder, was a BEAST at Alabama)
Pack: Jason Spriggs (supposedly the Pack considered him in the 1st; we sure could have used him!)
Bears: Cody Whitehair and some draft picks for moving back 15 spots.

And we took a CB on the short side despite the fact that our coach (known as a "DB Whisperer") has publicly stated that he prefers taller corners.

I'm fine with delayed gratification, so the trade out of round 3 leaves me indifferent; I recognize that the RICKER will have ammo for next year.

It just felt like "one of those days" :violin:
You're not the only one. I was hoping for making hay while the sun is shining. You know, if this draft is so DEEP. There are difference makers above the rest at positions of need and we trade down in a later round and get a later round pick for this year? Idk, I feel a little cheated compared to what could have been done yesterday. Lollygagging?

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

I would trade the rest of my picks to land Billings and Miles Killebrew.

Really curious how Rick will use the picks. I don't know about you but it's pretty gratifying when extra picks the result of trades end up being good/great starters.

Some good options there. At this point in the draft LB, S, and DL are the positions most likely to make the squad. I would venture selections at most other positions will be PS guys given our current personnel. Maybe a G will out compete our 14 other lackluster guards?

If a player at another position makes the squad he will be a surprise and a real value!

Btw, in a copycat league, the Broncos played 3 elite CB and won a SB. Vikings have pass rushers in Griffen and Hunter, not quite Miller and Ware, they have elite LB potential in Barr and Kendricks, and have to feel really good about their D.

I think we will see a lot more of Waynes this year. He made some nice plays late in the season and in the playoff game.

What is the reason Billings has fallen so far? Could he play the 2 or 3 gap or is best suited in a 3-4 defense?

My guess is his height has hurt him. 6' 1" is short for an NFL interior defensive lineman. Right or wrong, a lot of teams fuss over such things.
