Since when can you trade a compensatory pick?

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll go 1-15 next year. :)

Spielman continues to place an emphasis on building for the future, acquiring picks, and analyzing the 2017 draft class. #Vikings

Spielman: "Coach Zimmer is always good about choosing the best player available, they just all happen to be on the defensive side."

Oh new rule change apparently
NFL owners approved two changes Wednesday that might have an effect on the NFL draft starting in 2017 and free agency in 2016.

The owners, who are meeting in Irving, Texas, voted to allow compensatory draft picks to be traded beginning in 2017 and also voted to shorten the "legal tampering window" before free agency from three days to two.

The #Vikings now have 6 picks in the first 4 rounds of the 2017 draft. Seems like they know the 2016 roster might be hard to make.

No, if they get an end of 3rd round comp pick the Vikings will get that in place of their 4th. In other words their 4th is the worst it can be, but with comp picks it could be even better.

I really think not having a ton of roster spots likely to be open for guys they might take at this point is a factor. They may get 1 or 2 more guys out of this draft who makes the 53, but I'm guessing these are mostly going to be PS players from here on out.

If that's the case, it makes sense to add more picks next year when more of these 1 year deals come up.

That's a much better deal if that's the case.

Oh, even better! Thanks for clarification. Its almost two 3rd round 2017 picks and a 2016 6th for our 2016 3rd?

Rick Speilman said the #Vikings still could end up with 10 picks this year.
