Should be an opportunity to grab a good player.

A Nick Martin could be an interesting selection to play RG this year and C going forward? Maybe Whitehair is in the same boat?
Hunter Henry or Michael Thomas could both fit well in this offense, though maybe not a desperate need for either position.
Cash, Bell, Thompson, Cravens...a lot of different flavors of Safety could be available.
Kenneth Dixon or Derrick Henry provide really different approaches to the looming post-Peterson era at RB.
Immediate impact players might include a defensive linemen. Its one of the few positions that rotates players, which allows your backups to get snaps.
Spriggs is more an athlete than a bully. Is he a guy Sparano would want? It would be nice to have next years starting LT on the roster this year.

Yes there is excellent value still available. We should have plenty of options the next few rounds

Myles Jack cannot have simple meniscal tear. That wouldn't need micro fracture surgery, unless it was a complete rupture of the medial meniscus. That is cartilage that lines the joint - it reduces forces through the knee. If it was a complete rupture, that tissue is avascular, meaning it cannot heal on its own with some surgical intervention. The joint fluid supplies that tissue, but that is not enough for 'nutrition' for the tissue.

That is where micro fracture surgery would come in. That would cause localized bleeding in the area, which would allow the tissues to undergo the healing process.

However, micro fracture surgery for a medial meniscus tear is not that common. What I think is really going on is that Myles Jack has a chondral defect. That is something that can be very limiting. A lot of times, that injury does require micro fracture surgery to promote healing.

Where will Matakevich go?

He lit up the Senior Bowl. He was in on the play for just about every snap he was on the field.

I never had him get past the third on fanspeak. NFL.com has him as a 7th rd pick. His production is incredible...I really have a hard time seeing him get past the 4th before somebody take him.

I'm going to be happy with Brothers, Jack, or Vonn Bell. Those are my top 3 choices. Doubt we get any of them though. Could grab brothers in r3 if vonn bell falls to us though.


edit: Nick Martin would also be a nice choice. Added depth on our line.

I'd be okay with that outcome although that's a crappy run before our pick. Hackenberg in the 2nd? Damn, I was hoping he'd fall to 3rd/4th round where the Vikings would potentially start looking for contingencies.

Jack should be long gone but if he isn't I would pass. We have two solid LB's, how often are we in base defense, 30% maybe? This is a nickel league now, that's a luxury pick for the Vikings and not one you take when you have holes to fill.

Dr. James Andrews told UCLA LB Myles Jack he will not need microfracture surgery.
Andrews first examined Jack's knee in December. Jack seemed uncertain about whether he'd need surgery when discussing it earlier this week, but Andrews doesn't see the injury as a long-term issue.

So a bit like a Cravens? I could see Zimmer having a lot of fun with a guy like that. I still don't know that the reward outweighs the risk in the 2nd round for this team.

Glad Bronco's got Lynch instead of the Cowboys. Jerry must not want to chance loosing another one.

I wouldn't mind if we tried to jump back up in the 2nd with another pick.
I would like to see us get an OT like Spriggs because next year we could be having some turnover. And it would be nice to have a future replacement in the system.

And let Zimmer pick who he wants on his side of the ball.
