I'm a little surprised so many are set on picking up another LB # 23 who would probably only play 2 downs the way our defense is set up. I feel a LB is kind of a luxury pick. I would sooner see a DL pick or even OL. As far as WR I think only Treadwell and Doctson are the only 2 WR's that are first round worthy that we will have a shot at.

I guess it will come down to BPA at a position Rick & Zimmer desire.

Not to throw cold water on you at all but the average LB's career is 6 years. Obviously I hope they last longer than that but in theory Barrs already a 1/3rd of the way done.

I am of the opinion that once you something going its easier to keep it going. I would rather they keep the LB core elite for the long haul since they seem to have it on it, and try to pull everything else up as they can.

That stat is kind of misleading though. The NFL says the average player career is 6 years (for players who make a club's opening day roster in their rookie season). It's not position specific, I don't think. The NFL player association says 3.3 years.

These stats take into account practice squad players that may only play a year. Players with at least 1 pro bowl appearance have an average career of 11.5 years.

I wasnt quoting that stat. I was surmising after googling "Average nfl linebacker career length" about a dozen different ways and looking at the results. What I could find was a consistent number around 6 if not 6 exactly

Don't see that this was posted:

Fullback Zach Line signs restricted free-agent tender with Vikings
Zach Line's one-year tender will allow him to make $1.671 million in 2016, with none of the money guaranteed.

Even if it's a mock draft it's good to see.

Mel Kiper has Vikings taking Will Fuller (WR), Jalen Mills (S), and Nick Martin (C/G) with their first 3 picks. I know many will not like this but I would be happy with those picks. Plus, Rick continues his gold helmet obsession

If the board shook out this way, I'd take Elliot with the 23rd, no way he's a 2nd round guy. He's clear BPA to me with that pick and even with AD I take him (I think he's top 10 talent easy but is dropping due to the notion that RBs are interchangeable). Second round I would go Boyd. Martin in the 3rd is a solid pick.

I don't think Elliot would make it past the Bears at 11, he probably won't even make it that far im feeling.

I didn't think of that

Fuller is not my favorite receiver in the draft. But the other 2 picks seem ok.
