Vikings may as well just stay on the phone with Cincinnati, since they seemed interested in their whole defensive roster. I can see the GM's assistant now..."Please hold...It's the Vikings again!"

I wouldn't be shocked either way. Perhaps I am just not easily shocked...dead_poet wrote:
Because that type of turnover rarely -- if ever -- happens to a starting offensive line over the course of a single offseason. It's equally possible Sullivan & Loadholt recover from injury and are better than any other options available (within fiscally responsible reason). I don't know why the (healthy) status quo version is looked at as such a bad thing when there's potential there for an above-average unit, especially if they can add a better LG while drafting some solid guys to compete for roles in the next three years.
The status quo is looked at as bad because it hasn't been very good. Its been quite lousy for years. And if Kalil is making 11 million it makes it tough to bring in any sort of backup plan in the event he stinks it up again, which probably means another wasted season. Thats all.

Its smart to go after players you know in FA, so I'm happy to see it. The fit goes a long way to determining the perception of a player as "top 5" or bottom of the barrel.PacificNorseWest wrote:Vikings may as well just stay on the phone with Cincinnati, since they seemed interested in their whole defensive roster. I agree. I just find it humorous.fiestavike wrote: Its smart to go after players you know in FA, so I'm happy to see it. The fit goes a long way to determining the perception of a player as "top 5" or bottom of the barrel.

Yes, and then the Vikings can also have a roster that makes the playoffs every year and never advances!

Hope this doesn't backfire, Vikings have a LOT of people on a contract year.dead_poet wrote:

I worry about a few years from now... Will we be able to keep our core together?S197 wrote: Hope this doesn't backfire, Vikings have a LOT of people on a contract year.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

the contracts of our core guys aren't an issue. here's the list of who's up in 2017. chances are rhodes and floyd will get 5th year options, so who else really worries you? you have to remember as well that when the younger guys come up for contracts players like sullivan, peterson, wallace, and robison's deals probably won't be as high or be here at all. we will be fine.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora expects the Vikings to release Mike Wallace within the "next 48 hours."

I don't have the energy to post again why we have yet to see this unit together at full strength.fiestavike wrote: I wouldn't be shocked either way. Perhaps I am just not easily shocked...

Via Rand Getlin (assuming it's not agent-driven hooey)
In addition to the #Raiders, I'm told the #Vikings are surging for OG Kelechi Osemele. Expect his deal to land well in excess of $10M per.

I can't imagine Slick Rick paying 10+ for an OG. I just don't see it happening. I guess we will see, I've been wrong before plenty of times!dead_poet wrote:Via Rand Getlin (assuming it's not agent-driven hooey)

I can't either. It frankly makes me sick that the Raiders (who already have an excellent line) might add him too.VikingPaul73 wrote: I can't imagine Slick Rick paying 10+ for an OG. I just don't see it happening. I guess we will see, I've been wrong before plenty of times!

I'll be very disappointed when we can't land him after this tease. Adding Osemele would change our whole line nearly as much as losing Sullivan and Loadholt, but this time for the better. I don't care if it takes us out of the Illoka sweepstakes.

what if they sign Osemele at noon on the 9th, and then cut Kalil at 1pm???dead_poet wrote:I'll be very disappointed when we can't land him after this tease.
