It's funny how the thing that likely caused Zimmer problems getting a head coaching job (bluntness) is what is getting so much praise.

I agree. Wasnt it just maybe 3-4 years ago, there was some stir in Cinci about him continually rubbing players the wrong way? He is an in your face type of guy. Some of these superstar or rookie players might not like that. I find it refreshing to really like a HC.Cliff wrote:It's funny how the thing that likely caused Zimmer problems getting a head coaching job (bluntness) is what is getting so much praise.

If Seattle loses and Vikings lose, that means Vikings would play Washington, and that's not too bad
Re: 2015 Season General Comments (pressers, practice notes,
I was thinking this exact same thing when looking at the playoff picture last night. However, the Redskins are "hot" right now also. I think I would be happier with a win in Lambeau even if we have to face a better team at home (it would get us a chance for some revenge for our earlier losses).Canuck wrote:If Seattle loses and Vikings lose, that means Vikings would play Washington, and that's not too bad

Yea, and lets not forget that the Seahawks would be a 9-7 football team coming off of two straight losses at that point.Grashopa wrote: I was thinking this exact same thing when looking at the playoff picture last night. 2015 Season General Comments (pressers, practice notes, etc)
Zimmer on #Vikings' aggressive approach (fake punt, blitzes): "We didn't come here to finish second. We were going to take our swings."
Zimmer on bath: "It felt really good. The last time was my first game. I told them they can’t do it again until we win a championship."

... and he did!dead_poet wrote:
They did what they've needed to do for some time: upgrade the talent on the defense. They needed to improve the interior of the line, get more speed and athleticism at LB, and improve the quality of their DBs and DB performance. The focus since Zimmer arrived has been on upgrading defensive personnel and it's paying off.
Now he needs to fix the passing game, which doesn't lie within his area of expertise. I hope he, Spielman and Turner are up to the task.

Definitely, personnel was a key part of the swift transition. But IMO it was also having an overarching vision and scheme and knowing what kind of players would work with that vision.Mothman wrote: ... and he did!

I think the biggest improvement has been vs. the pass. We used to be so easy to pick apart through the air--we seemed to be in prevent D the whole game. Now we play tough and physical in the secondary and even without perfect personnel we are doing pretty darn well in the secondary. I have to give huge credit to Zimmer on fixing what was a horrible defense.
