Re: Pro Bowl sucks
One of the leagues best defenses has zero pro bowl players. Seems legit. Vikings players always get shafted on this ####, smith should have gone more or less every year of his career outside of his rookie season. The bigger snub is linval joseph, who has been far and away one of the best DTs in the league this year and its not really up for debate.
Will show them by knocking out some people in the playoffs, as far as im concerned the only team we cant beat is the seahawks, look out to anyone else.

I'd really rather stay under the radar... and this way, now Joseph, Smith, etc. have motivation to rip the league up.

Re: Pro Bowl sucks
I mean....to be honest, they really don't have the stats to be in the pro bowl, plus they have missed alot of time with injuries and have been unable to get those stats. The pro bowl doesn't really rely on PFF grades or what fans like us see, it depends on sacks, ints, tds, etc. I was hoping smith played well this year and had 5 ints to go with it, but he hasn't. The only person on our team who has PRO BOWL worthy stats is AP.

What a f###ing joke!!!
We get snubbed every year i swear. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... off-roster
This is the link to the pro bowl snubs on NFL.com and we have 3 of them. THREE!!! Out of eleven.
It all boils down to us not having the "household names". So many clueless fans vote not having a clue who is good or not. They simply go off of name.
I also don't want to hear the "those guys have been hurt" crap. Demarcus Ware has played in 8 games this year and makes it over Barr. Joseph has been in the top 3 all year according to PFF and misses out. Smith has been the best safety in the NFL for at least a few years now and doesnt get it.
Another one that I think was snubbed that isn't your household name is Zack Line. He has 3 TDs this year and is blocking for the leading rusher in the NFL. Instead Marcel Reece makes it because he's one of the only "known" FBs in the NFL.
It is the pro bowl which is a joke anyways but I am sick of our guys getting snubbed. One of the best defenses in the NFL and not one player makes it. They need to stop letting fans vote

Re: Pro Bowl sucks
Smith has played well just doesnt have the INTs but does that really matter? No. Because Earl Thomas made it last year with ONE interception and Smith had 4 and the stats to back it up.MichViking wrote:I mean....to be honest, they really don't have the stats to be in the pro bowl, plus they have missed alot of time with injuries and have been unable to get those stats. What was the stat someone posted during the Seattle game? Something along the lines of:
Earl Thomas allows 1 completion every 32.4 of the passes thrown his way.
Harrison Smith allows 1 completion for every 60.2 of the passes thrown his way.
....It's not even comparable.

Beyond the obvious 3, Patterson lead the league in both kick return average and TDs. And Marcus sherels should have beenin for STs play, despite not even being a nominee

Re: Pro Bowl sucks
That's not the point. I don't even watch the game half the time but it's the honor of being sent to it. You look at all the great players over the years and most of them are 5x pro bowlers and up. AP and Moss are examples of 7x pro bowlers. When you talk about a good/great player, it's almost always brought up into the conversation. It's always brought up at their hall of fame induction. Moss and AP were always the face of their franchises for obvious reasons and their play on the field earned them many trips to the pro bowl and it will be known at their hall of fame inductions that they were 7 time pro bowlers.Cliff wrote: +1

It's gotten to the point now where if you're talked about quite often on TV, you're getting in. Just like Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Demarcus Ware, and Gerald McCoy, none of who deserved it IMO. Side note: According to PFF, McCoy was the #34 ranked DT out of 70. But makes it over Joseph.
Or the Dallas Cowboy offensive line that had a horrible rushing attack this year and just a horrible offense in general.
Or Malcolm Butler who's done nothing but make one big play in the Super Bowl.
Or Aaron Rodgers who hasn't done near what Andy Dalton did this year. (I would even take Eli over him this year)
Or Calvin Johnson who was outplayed by Allen Robinson by a mile.
Or Darrelle Revis who's past him prime and has been torched multiple times this year.
Or Richard Sherman who's play the past two years has dipped quite a bit IMO.
.....point being, with allowing fans to vote, it's ruining the honor behind being in the pro bowl. It's just another dumb thing the NFL has done. I want to see our guys be remembered by someone else other than a Vikings fan. I want to see these guys in the hall some day. You look at the current HOF nominees and tell me how many are under 4-5 pro bowls. Not many if any at all.
EDIT: The only one is Terrell Davis who made it 3 times BUT also only played in the league 6 years and only 5 of them where he was a starter.
So I don't want to hear that it "doesn't mean anything". Granted the game itself doesn't but the honor of being voted in 100% does and that's what bothers me about this years vote

Re: Pro Bowl sucks
Since coaches and players account for 2/3 of voting, does that mean they shouldn't be allowed to vote either? Fan voting still only accounts for 1/3 of the total vote. Seems like a lot of people think that fan votes are the only thing that determines the Pro Bowl players.Pondering Her Percy wrote: .....point being, with allowing fans to vote, it's ruining the honor behind being in the pro bowl.

.....No I never said that. But for the fans vote to count period is what's stupid. It should be strictly coaches and players and that's itPurple Reign wrote: Since coaches and players account for 2/3 of voting, does that mean they shouldn't be allowed to vote either?
