Rams @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 9

Post by yezzir »

Good Morning and Skol!!

:v): :govikes: :smilevike:

-----------------------------------------------

Though the St. Louis Rams blew out the San Francisco 49ers last week while the Minnesota Vikings squeaked by the Chicago Bears, it's clear that the experts think Minnesota's victory was more impressive.

As predicted, the Rams and 49ers set football back at least 30 years during portions of their game in Week 8. San Francisco, which has the lowest-scoring offense in the league, only put up two field goals and was shut out in the second half. The Rams are hardly an offensive juggernaut, but at least they have Todd Gurley, who rushed for 133 yards. Rams QB Nick Foles went 14 of 23 for 191 yards and one interception, and Colin Kaepernick countered with completing less than 50 percent of his 41 throws for 162 yards. Kaepernick's performance was so atrocious, he lost his starting quarterback job one day later.

Teddy Bridgewater, conversely, shined in the final moments of the Vikings' 23-20 win over Chicago. He completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs to tie the game at 20 with two minutes remaining in regulation and then hooked up with Charles Johnson for a 35-yard completion to set the Vikings up in field goal range with 27 seconds left. Bridgewater finished with 187 passing yards on the day.

If the 5-2 Vikings can add a poised Bridgewater on top of a recharged Adrian Peterson and their seventh-ranked defense, they could be a legitimate wild card contender in the second half of the season. The 4-3 Rams still possess one of the best defensive lines in the league, but it's difficult to imagine them scoring enough to make a legitimate run.

The loser of this game will see its playoff hopes take a significant hit, especially considering the two clubs could be duking it out for a wild card spot. It's not a clean sweep, but the Vikings are favored at both ESPN and CBS Sports. Here at SB Nation, six of our eight experts think Minnesota's defense will stifle the Rams' moribund offensive attack.

--------------------------------------------------------

I think the Rams will have a lot of FG attempts. Gurley will get them in position but Foles won't be able to complete 3rd downs on our half of the field.

I'm hoping we get the ball in Diggs hands, here it comes.....more creatively. Let him run!

I think Wallace is gonna have a big game coming off his stinker last week.

Teddy goes 26-36. 210 yards, 2 TD's.

AP, 112 yards, 1 TDs.

I'm thinking this will be a solid offensive game despite the Rams defense.

Prediction: Vikings 29, Rams 19

Let's roll!

It looks like the Rams RT, the rookie Havenstein, is going to be out. Long is out. The rest on the injury report will probably play.

This is not good news for the Rams' already unreliable o-line. Rams have no real depth there.

Quinn, Long, Havenstein, and McDonald are all out or St. Louis.

Kendricks and Floyd out for us, as expected. Diggsy and Barr are active.

To each and every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Last Sunday Teddy didnt do so well til near the end of the game. This day though he will do well early and for most of the game and fizzle late and once the Rams defense is gassed then ol AD will take the reins and steer that horsey home. See how that works? Vikes 27 Rams 3

Two things that are keeping me optimistic about this game.

1. Bridgewater is 7-2 at home.
2. Vikings are not relying on any one thing so far this season. They truly are playing team ball.

Rams are a scary team.

Hope its a well fought and injury free game.

Very true. This game has HUGE playoff implications, wild card specifically. We'll look back at this game after the season as a decider.

Anybody with the game link please post in the appropriate forum! For some reason I'm getting the Packers game and I'm puking in my mouth a little.
