OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
WTF is with the negativity here/ They won the damn ball game. They didn't play well, but they beat a divisional foe on the ROAD. The last time that happened in Chicago was eight years ago.
I am not the most positive member here, but some of you are acting quite trollish. Let people be happy about a 5-2 start, something many of us didn't predict. I like Teddy. He seems to have a calmness about him that a Viking QB has not had in years. I am fine if others don't like him, that is your opinion. But let people be happy about a win.

Re: OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
I had predicted the Vikings to be at 6-1 at this point (I picked the San Fran game wrong), but even so, I am very excited for this team. Yeah, it was a ugly win. The offense didn't look great. But the Vikings are 3-0 in the division, won two road games back to back, and have a 5-2 record! I wouldn't say that I'm one of the more positive posters, nor am I one of the overly negative, but come on people this defense (if nothing else) is something to be excited for. This season has been the most exciting (as a Vikings fan) since the 09 season. With that said, I don't believe that the Vikings will be in this years Super Bowl, but this team has a bright future. I'm loving this.

It was a great win and everyone is happy about the win
For me it is bittersweet because today marks the day that I officially gave up on Teddy P. He's a bust.

Great, we barely beat a crappy team who lost their star RB in the first half.....
Look at the remaining games. Every game left is against a much better opponent except our rematch against the hapless Bears.
If we play like today we might see one more win.

The Pack also barely beat the same crappy team. Do they suck? How many outdoor road games have we won in the last decade? Well we just won one today. Anyone who was expecting a blowout against a divisional rival in an outdoor road game doesn't know this team very well at all.chicagopurple wrote:Great, we barely beat a crappy team who lost their star RB in the first half.....
Plus - our player was the reason why their RB was out! Smith knocked him out! That's exactly what you want in your defense.
Most of the NFL is mediocre to bad this year. Right now there are only 11 teams over .500. So EVERYONE'S record is inflated because of that. The Pack only beaten one team with a record over .500 (St. Louis at 4-3).
Take time to analyze everything that's happening instead of simply wanting your team to fail.

Re: OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
Of the 9 games left, 3 of them are against teams that are currently .500 or less (Seahawks, Bears, Giants). At the minimum all of those games *should* be wins.chicagopurple wrote:Great, we barely beat a crappy team who lost their star RB in the first half.....

Of the other 6 games, 2 teams are one game above .500 (Rams, Raiders), 2 are division games (Packers twice) and the other 2 (Falcons, Cardinals) are at 6-2 (1/2 a game better than the Vikings).
The schedule DOES get harder, but I don't see this game as being an indicator that it's the end of the world for this season's team. I believe that they can pull out about 6 more wins.
The offense was bad today. However, Teddy came through when he needed to and the offense put up enough points to win. The defense, which is the strength of this team, will do enough to keep most games within reach
Edit: edited for accuracy.

Re: OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
Well, at the risk of getting into another ridiculous "the team with the better record should always be favored" argument with the Packer guy......but the Vikings will be and should be dogs against the seahawks and the raiders (who are actually above .500 by the way). The Raiders are a good team and the Vikes will have to travel half way across the country. And by the way, Carr is better than Teddy P.akvikingsfan wrote: Of the 9 games left, 4 of them are against teams that are currently .500 or less (Seahawks, Bears, Giants, Raiders). The seahawks, their record notwithstanding, are simply a better team than the Vikings. And I'm afraid to see what their D will do against us. The Rams game will be ugly. I just can't see the Vikings moving the ball at ALL against them. Final score will be 9-6, not sure who will win.
Both Packers games will be losses. At Cards will be a loss, assuming Palmer is healthy.
I actually think they have a chance against the Falcons as this is a good matchup for the Vikes. Their D is soft and hopefully AD can get loose. HOPEFULLY this will be a win.
I see 8-8. I agree with CP.

Re: OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
You're correct. When I posted NFL.com hadn't updated yet. The Raiders are one game over .500 now. And you're also correct that it's not just about records. I agree that they will be the dogs in most of these match ups. However, I see them being able to pull more of them out as wins than you do.VikingPaul73 wrote: Well, at the risk of getting into another ridiculous "the team with the better record should always be favored" argument with the Packer guy......but the Vikings will be and should be dogs against the seahawks and the raiders (who are actually above .500 by the way). Predictions, predictions on what games the Vikes "should or should not" win...Nobody knows!
5-2, go Vikings, I'm behind you! Thank goodness they aren't 2-5...
Addendum: Every powerhouse team still squeaks by with wins, you know, like Denver!

Re: OMG The Vikings WON THE GAME
I know its hard to compare one teams performance against a team to another team. However, the Vikings played the Broncos 100x better than the Packers are right now. Any given Sunday the outcome can go any way. But based on what I see, I think the Vikings have a better chance against the Packers (at least when they play in Minnesota) than most other people on this board.

I was in the Army or shortly out of it and took a history class about the World Wars and I noticed almost every political leader did some sort of hand gesture/shout thing that was Skoltastic.VikingPaul73 wrote: Hunter, sorry, this is probably a dumb question and I know I SHOULD know this.....but I've wondered this for awhile and I gotta ask....who is the guy in your pic?????????????
I asked somebody here for Benito Mussolini in Vikings clothes so they obliged and made it a little silly and through the Helga Hat on. I have had it for years and I kind of got to liking it.
