No big mystery, he was trying to play hurt  I predicted that he would regain his rookie form after healing. He is a great player that will be around a very long time.

christomasson Mike Zimmer said there would be no drawbacks on wide receivers not practicing this week if they play Sunday
@christomasson I would imagine Robert Blanton will start Sunday mike Zimmer said Blanton needs to do what he has been told
‏@christomasson Mike Zimmer says there could be an opportunity Sunday for Cordarrelle Patterson
The full context of Zimmer's response to Patterson is interesting.
‏@Andrew_Krammer Asked if Cordarrelle Patterson has shown he's ready for an opportunity Sunday, Zimmer: "There's an opportunity "

@Andrew_Krammer Cordarrelle Patterson said he's looking to take advantage of an opportunity, adding he's not sure what he has left to prove.
@Andrew_Krammer Patterson:"I don't know how much more I need to prove..just have to be ready. When my opportunity come, don't slip up or do anything stupid"
@Andrew_Krammer Jarius Wright said he's been given "no official diagnosis" on injured right hand, "If something was broke, i'm sure they'd tell me." Wright said he initially hurt his hand on a catch.
@Andrew_Krammer Wright said he's optimistic he'll play Sunday, Zimmer noted he was a limited in Friday's practice. #Vikings

@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer's press conference just started, said protection issues weren't isolated to one problem. Missed pick ups, poor blocks, etc
@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer on Clemmings: "it's about consistency right now...When he's good, he's good." But growing pains showing through
@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer: "I think we have a chance to be a good football team, and if we ever put it all together we can be a really good team."
@VikingUpdate Mike Zimmer said Adrian Peterson had only one protection problem against the Broncos. #Vikings

@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer on #Vikings' pass-heavy offense: "The script didn't call for quite that many," but they saw Denver personnel they wanted to throw on
@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer praising Linval Joseph: "Hes an unselfish player and that's what I'm trying to get everybody to buy into."
@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer counted up errors on Hillman's 72-yd TD run off top: "one, two, three, four, five, we had five guys that did not execute."

Strange, right after the game he took the blame for calling that defense, he must have watched the film. Really Denver did very little against the Vike's defense.

Notes from Rick's annual bye-week media session:

Spielman on Walsh, Cordarrelle, AP, Bridgewater and more

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... s-vikings/

Not a lot there as he's good at using a lot of words to say very little but it's the bye week so it's something. Sounds like Wallace might be dealing with an injury. No real answer on why Diggs can come right in and be targeted 10 times and Patterson not being involved. Reading between the lines I think it's still route-running and being in the right place at the right time, something that apparently a fifth-round rookie can do better than a guy entering his third year. After seeing the route that turned one of the best corners in the game around (Talib) it's probably hard to argue that. Even Wallace is impressed with Diggs and offered up praise (highlight my emphasis)
“He could be better than me,” Wallace told Tomasson. “He’s young. When I came in (with Pittsburgh in 2009), I was playing well as a young guy, but I had one assignment: Beat them deep. Diggs is already running the full-route treatment from Day One.”
“He’s a baller, man,” said Wallace, who had eight catches against the Broncos for 83 yards and a touchdown. “I see it in him, man. He’s a young player, but I'm excited for him. He just has that quick twitch muscle when he gets the ball. He can always do something with it. Great hands. Great route running. He’s a gamer, man. I have complete confidence in him. He did a great job. He’s just has got to protect the ball.

Did John Lynch say something about Keenan McCardell working with Diggs in college during the broadcast? A quick google search reveals that he is the WR coach at Maryland. Not a bad guy to have teaching you the game.
