Well, that was a healthy dose of perspective on just where the Vikes are in their development and how much work they have to do. Ouch.

A few quick thoughts/fears before I call it a night:

— Rick Spielman needs to wake up and smell the need for quailty and depth on the offensive line.

— Run defense still appears to be the Achilles heel of this Vikes defense. They were pushed around all night.

— I fear Norv is the wrong coordinator for the Vikes offense. His playcalling, game plan and use of personnel were all brutal tonight. I'm not impressed with what he's done thus far in Minnesota.

There's plenty to talk about, most of it bad. I imagine Zimmer will be tougher on his team over the next week than we will.

Hopefully, the Vikes will bounce back with a much better performance next week.

VikingLord wrote:After watching this I wonder how many games this Vikings team is capable of winning this year. I know it's only one game, but this team can't stop the run and can't block on offense. Line play is terrible on both sides of the ball and I don't how how the Vikings can fix it with the players they have.

At least Harrison Smith knocked Kaepernick to next Sunday.

Certainly discouraging. I am an optimistic fan but what do I hang my hat on ??? A FLUKE !!!!!! Yea that's it !!!!!
No I am not buyin' Well time to go remember from last season what the ceiling above my bed looks like when stared at for awhile .

The hope is that they develop and get better from now until season end, hopefully for you guys you will be in the race, but it is my opinion that you will be.

I was optimistic heading into the season, at this point, with the preseason injuries and this performance, another losing season seems more likely.

Like I said before age, AP is not the threat he used to be. He is slow you can see it IMO.

he looked hesitant and confused running out of the shotgun. disappointing since i don't see this line opening many holes out of a traditional running attack.

Nope I dont think you can 'see it clearly', and even if AP is a little bit slower, which is debateble, he is still better then McKinnon.

Yeah, I'd be surprised if the 49ers are any good this year, but I really don't care about that at all. What bothers me is how bad the Vikings looked. Everyone says the Vikes are an up-and-coming team, but to me they looked much worse than they did last year, especially against the run. If the team can't stop opposing rushing games, it's going to be a very long season. The 49ers had incredibly favorable conditions on 2nd and 3rd downs because the Vikings consistently gave up massive yardage against the run on 1st down.

You may be right in terms of the word "clearly" so I edited to say IMO. Might not be clear to others but it stands out to me. Can't tell me we cant do some creative plays with Jm's speed. There is no substitute for speed from what I understand.

Trent Dilfer's performance tonight wasn't as bad as the Vikings. I think that speaks volumes. The guy is hands down the worst commentator on the circuit right now.

I don't see the point of this rb argument since there's no end to it. Okay let them play 16 games, still won't tell the story. AP will get more carries duh, then what? Joesph Randle averaged more yards per carry than DeMarco Murray last year, does that mean Randle is better? I do think AP looked slow tonight (due to no holes) and would agree that JM fit whatever lousy shotgun scheme we had tonight, does that mean starting JM would've won us the game?

This team needs upgrades in the worst way and rb should be the least of the problems because this current offense won't do either any favors, plain and simple. Best case scenario, JM is an nfl quality rb and we waste his best years with a lousy offensive scheme. That'd be a first.
