Re: Preseason Week 3 - Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders
Man can people stop being concerned about the offensive stalls? This is literally preseason, people talking about being concerned about the run game.......Peterson isn't playing and I have zero concerns about the run game when the season starts. We are running extremely vanilla play calling, you think Norv is going to let on his game during the preseason and give opponent a model of play before the season starts? Jeez. The intensity in these games has barely gotten above 30%.
As far as Walsh, people seem to be forgetting that the elements really weren't in his favor last night. Its difficult enough to boot a 30 yard field goal, its far more difficult to do it in Rain and Wind.
Im really just not understanding the negativity during the preseason, once peterson hits the field, its going to change everything so dramatically.

One person who hasnt gotten a lot of props in this thread (or maybe he has and I missed them) is Scott Crichton. Man, did he have himself a good game.

Maybe you should take a time-out from this board.PurpleKoolaid wrote:

What stood out most was the lack of physicality from the first team Defensive Line. They weren't taking the fight to the Oline, just trying to hold their ground.

I didn't get to see the game, but I thought this was a funny quote from Zimmer regarding Hill's interception, intended for Patterson:
Vikings: Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, asked whether Patterson, ran the wrong route: "Probably, if you were a betting man."

You phrased that comment like Yoda.84BreaksAnkles wrote:Incredibly concerned about Blair, I am.![]()

By the way, I agree that TB's touchdown pass to Johnson was a beauty. They both did a terrific job on that play.
That's typically the week of the preseason when the starters get the most playing time so maybe you'll get your wish!Would very much have liked to see more Rudolph at this point in the preseason. He is undoubtedly a matchup advantage for us, at the least. So whatever the reason is, I would like to see 3-5 targets his way next week.
That stood out to me too. I know it's just preseason football but after watching the run defense struggle last season, I'm looking for signs of improvement there and I'm not seeing it from the line.fiestavike wrote:What stood out most was the lack of physicality from the first team Defensive Line. Ahh, maybe you should? Is that the proper response to a personal attack on me? A time out? Like im 4? Should Zimmer take a time out from coaching too? He's pretty negative. Some some mean things about CP, and waynes.fiestavike wrote: Maybe you should take a time-out from this board.

Why don't we just stop calling people stupid? Does that add anything to the discussion?PurpleKoolaid wrote: Ahh, maybe you should? Is that the proper response to a personal attack on me? A time out? Ahem... let's get back to the Vikings and last night's game. Please?
For example: How are people feeling about Wallace so far? He's having a very quiet preseason.
Does anybody have any new thoughts on the MLB competition after yesterday's game?

I mentioned it up thread after a specific play - yes, he was playing like a beast. Drove his man into the backfield on a few occasions. Great to see that.PurpleKoolaid wrote:One person who hasnt gotten a lot of props in this thread (or maybe he has and I missed them) is Scott Crichton. Man, did he have himself a good game.

I'm not giving much thought to Wallace's performance this preseason. I doubt he's going to be much better than he was in Miami, he's overpaid for what he is, but he can still do some useful things.Mothman wrote:Ahem... let's get back to the Vikings and last night's game. Please?

At MLB, I have been really pleased with Kendricks. He looks really comfortable out there. Pretty happy with him. I liked Hodges a bunch, too. But you already knew that. Haha.

Re: Preseason Week 3 - Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders
My only real concerns right now are along the line of scrimmage. The OL still lacks quickness off the snap, plus the lack of depth is troubling.
I'm getting nervous about the run defense. I was hoping to see them show us something in preseason after too many dismal performances last year.
I believe that the vanilla offensive and defensive sets limit the starters to a degree. No way is Zimmer going to show his whole hand during preseason ball.
As for MLB, I would probably go with Kendricks or Hodges as the starter, though they lack experience as starting pro MLBs. They'll get that experience by playing. I'm not saying that they presently look way better than Cole or Mauti. At least not yet.
Actually, I wonder if Zimmer feels he has a three down starting MLB at this point.
