Interesting....
. Antone Exum Is a Physical Stud…
The battle for the safety position opposite Harrison Smith will be one of the most intense fights this summer. Today, with Blanton filling in as the #1, Exum took second team reps and showed pretty quickly he doesn’t belong with the reserves.
But does "physical stud" = solid starter? We've seen time and again the most physically gifted athletes aren't always the best players. I wish this had more detail on it.

Also too bad to hear about Babs getting off to a rough start, but that's pretty much to be expected, especially in pass protection. I honestly thought he was pretty quick for such a big guy and have the suspicion his head is swimming with the playbook, new techniques and the gravity of his position. Hopefully he can settle in but hearing about his false starts and getting beat consistently in pass protection doesn't bode well early.

Glad to hear the buzz continuing with Diggs.

Thanks for posting that dead_poet.

On a side note, maybe it is just me, but does anyone else dislike Arif Hansen? I feel like the dude tries to act like he is an important beat-writer and that his opinion is better than everyone else's.

He points it out and I agree completely, the Vike's backup QBs suuuuuck :(
I would love them to bring in recently released Josh Freeman. If TB goes down, then the season would be a total loss.

It's not just you. I don't care for Hasan's writing either.

I mostly like his take and he provides a different perspective (especially on the data side of things), though sometimes his selective bias "against" players is a bit much and it mostly comes through from guys that were drafted that he was "against" the team signing.

He is a clear Vikings fan, though, and some of the harsh criticism comes from him wanting them to sign the guys he feels are the best for the team (which is to be expected) based on his understanding and pre-draft film study. He puts a lot of work in, which I can appreciate. FWIW I've never gotten the impression he acts like he's more important than he is. He puts in quite a bit of time and effort for what I can only assume is largely unpaid (or modestly paid). I appreciate the thoroughness of his articles and often the accompanying film snippits.

This was a good post to read if you want to get to know him a bit better and his take leading up to camp: https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesotavikin ... _anything/

I think Josh Freeman would be an awful signing, even as a backup. The dude has been nothing save for terrible every season since the end of 2010.

@Andrew_Krammer -- Sharrif Floyd, on Zimmer saying in Feb. he needs to realize NFL is 'big man's game': 'I agree. No room for pussies, if you can write that'
@Andrew_Krammer Tyrus Thompson and David Yankey working with second-team at guard. Clemmings at RT. Patterson still w/ 2's

There's nothing wrong with options but...
If you were under the impression that Trae Waynes was strictly going to be an outside corner with the Vikings, think again. Waynes spent much of the practice shadowing Captain Munnerlyn in the slot. And judging from George Edwards' press conference (which we'll get to shortly), it sounds like the team is giving Waynes a fairly serious look in the slot corner position.

I think Terence Newman is going to prove to be a plus corner opposite Xavier this year.

Josh Freeman's career is over. When you get cut by two teams without even a practice. I would rather see Tarvaris Jackson before Freeman. :(

I know you're asking Jim, but I'd like to throw my two cents in as well.

I think Hasan plays favorites. Once a player is on his poop list, that's that.

Seems as if Hasan is sort of closed minded in that way.

It also irked me when he reported something from a "source" that said AD was being traded, and then rudely backed it up when people challenged him on it. Then, alas, AD is still here, and has restructured his contract even.
