Vikings CB Josh Robinson suffered a partially torn pectoral before minicamp.

Robinson is expected to be sidelined for training camp and could be a candidate for reserve/PUP. It gives rookie Trae Waynes a clearer path to playing time behind Terence Newman and Captain Munnerlyn. Robinson is scheduled to make $1.55 million in the final year of his rookie deal.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirms CB Josh Robinson is a candidate for reserve/PUP.

Robinson would miss at least the first six weeks on PUP. The Vikings don’t consider his injury season-ending. Xavier Rhodes, Terence Newman, and Captain Munnerlyn are penciled in as Minnesota’s top three corners.

He'd miss the first six weeks of the season.

I'm a bit concerned with losing Robinson. It's not devastating, but part of the reason for my optimism at corner was knowing that at worst, we had the same nickel grouping as we had last year. All of a sudden we're relying on players who are older or younger than I would prefer.

I'm definitely not hand-wringing over the situation, but this might be bigger than some people will think.

Overall, our #5 CB was Robinson. With Rhodes, Waynes, Newman, and Munnerlyn ahead of him. I know Robinson isn't very good but for a #5 CB or a backup nickel, that's decent depth. It does hurt a little but it could give Waynes more opportunity. I'm interested to see who the 5th CB might be.

And see, I didn't view things as him being the clear-cut #5 guy. I feel lIke Rhodes was obviously our number one guy and Captain had things pretty much wrapped up in the slot, but I feel like our outside number 2 spot had a lot of competition. I think Newman is too old to be relied on heavily, and I don't feel like at this point in his career he's a sure-fire starter anyways. I think Trae Waynes is going to be asked to earn every single snap he gets. I felt like Robinson was going to get an opportunity to earn his fair share of snaps because a) he played much better last year, and we probably wouldn't even be discussing his spot as open if it wasn't for his matchup against Alshon Jeffrey and b) competition brings out the best in players.

Like I said, I don't view this as a tremendous loss, but I do think it's bigger than simply losing our fifth corner like you stated.

I agree. Robinson is a young and improving CB, very fast and athletically inclined. I think there's obvious upside with him compared to an aging Newman.

Robinson being hurt is not a huge loss, but it's still a loss. Thankfully there is good CB depth on the team, as long as nobody else gets hurt.

First Fusco, then Loadholt, then Robison, and now Robinson. All pectoral injuries. Seems too many to be coincidental. Prior to Fusco, I can't remember the last Viking to go down with a torn pec. The only thing that has changed is that we hired Evan Marcus as our S&C coach last year.

looked like it was non-contact. I wonder is thats just a fluke step or more of a "it was bound to go soon" kind of situation.

Wishing Phil a complete recovery.

Wasn't able to see the preseason game and really hate to hear it. The OL just got much worse.

I just rewatched it. Second play from scrimmage. Nothing out of the ordinary on the play at all.
