I never saw that gesture as being so terribly uncouth, to be honest. I thought it was pretty funny and I bet it made a lot of Vikings fans even more fond of Randy. It was kind of a WWF type moment --showmanship, rivalry, over the top theatrics--all aimed at stoking the fans' fire. It reminded me of the rivalries of old between Secord and Ciccarelli (Blackhawks and North Stars), which in the day were super heated (Secord famously slashed Ciccarelli in the head; Willie Plett sure had it in for Secord on more than one occasion)

These types of rivalries make you detest a player in the moment (I know we vigorously participated in the "Secord sucks!" chant whenever it broke out), but as the years pass I have a bit of nostalgia for them... I think within certain limits of decency and sportsmanship they are actually good for the sport. But I get your dislike for Randy. All the Vikings fans I know have a similar feeling for Rodgers--he's just so annoying, mostly because he's so good for the team we dislike so much.

Never thought that was a big deal either...and supposedly the packers fans made a habit of mooning the vikings bus and Moss was just giving it back to them. That whole thing has been totally overblown.

Randy being Randy

I never thought the Randy Moss moon was so distasteful that anybody other than Joe Buck actually got offended. You learn something new every day, I guess.

I chuckled at the time, no doubt. The only time I can think of that a Vikings player did something that I was ashamed of was when Brian Robison tried to earn the nickname "The Deflator" before it became popular:

Ditto. Robison seems to suffer from poor judgment in a very specific set of circumstances: on the field after the play is over. His "fishing celebration" has to be the lamest I've ever seen.

One of my favorite moments in Vikings-Packers history was when Corey Fuller gave Frank Winters some three stooges action.

http://www.apnewsarchive.com/1996/Vikin ... 007cc3551d
EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ Minnesota Vikings cornerback Corey Fuller has been fined $30,000, nearly one-tenth of his base salary, for poking Green Bay center Frank Winters in the eye last Sunday.
The fine was believed to be the largest ever levied against a Minnesota player and was among the steepest handed out by the NFL this season. Winters also was fined $7,500 for a late hit that provoked Fuller.

Packers fighting each other

After Harris had a dirty play previously(late out of bounds
hit I think) Peterson punks him and gets him on his back.

The Packers are better coached than a lot of teams; to think that they
don't have classless moments is incorrect, at best.
Your reaching. Not only did the Jets start that fight, they also threw punches.

I never said we didnt have our classless moments (Charles Martin anyone?) only that you have never seen a Packers player do something similar to to what Randy did, and that is true, you havent. Had a Packers player directed a vulgar gesture at opposing FANS i would have remembered.

Again, playfully messing around with you own teammates, and making a spiteful gesture to opposing teams fans are quite different. The intent is the key here, as is the recipient of said gestures.

Right, players acting as retarded as fans do, that would work out fantastic.

The difference is Randy has been looked at as a selfish POS with attitude problems almost his entire career, his penchant for pissing people off is matched only by his incredible ability on the Field.

If Rodgers did something like that i would be somewhat embarrased, there are plenty of Packers fans who wouldnt be, however i do grant you that.

I think most people just expect players to be above that kind of crap.

On the field to opposing players is one thing, directly insulting and gesturing to opposing fans is entirely different, and also not something many players not named Randy have ever done, at all.

Didn't Corey Fuller completely level a Packer (Antonio Freeman?) one year in Lambeau? That was awesome.

His eye-poke, however, was stupid.

And for the record, I never talk smack to a Packer fan, even if they deserve it, because I don't see the logic in it... it would be like Prairie View University talking smack to Duke before a men's basketball game.

Hope you dont take my opinions for talking smack, because im not. I have to great a respect for the Vikings current squad, and even moreso the Vikings franchise.

Im sure you may find it flattering that i despise to Vikings organization probably more then any other single franchise in the NFL :), but i surely wouldnt come onto your main forum, for the sole purpose/reason of talking smack.

Winters went in late after his knees. the eye poke was justified and deserved.

No, not at all. I am just saying that I never do that because it is stupid for anyone from MN to do that to WI right now because WI is so far superior in every sports category right now it is embarrassing.

Flipping off your buddies on your own sideline in jest is far different from scoring a td and making a vulgar gesture to opposing fans.

Again, thats your opinion (my guess is Buck's reaction had an influence ). My opinion, Both were done in jest.
