I was very happy to see Kendricks fall to us, and Spielman pick him up. I wonder whether they will play him at OLB opposite Barr or in the middle. But it instantly upgrades what we had at LB before. This team needed an infusion of speed, and a LB that can be dangerous in coverage. I think we got that person

This team needs talented players, ones that can execute the plays called. They dont need speed.
Luckily, Kendricks is going to be a star on our D. The best player we have drafted this year. I look forward to seeing him and Barr blow things up.

I hope he plays in the middle. I hear how good he is in coverage, but what about his run support? We were pretty piss poor last year against the run.

He's just as good vs the run

Notice that when you draft good linebackers, your defense improves. Just a smart pick and it's about time the Vikings drafted a middle linebacker high and filled that hole that's been exposed since EJ Henderson left.

Plus move making Anthony Barr very happy.

This was my favorite pick in this whole draft.

My favorite too. Developing a man crush on him already. With the pieces around him, I think he's going to shine.

Im not talking about Raiders, draft that fastest, strongest, tallest guy, just saying that our LBs as a group have been slow for the past 15 years. Rarely have we had anyone that can play sideline to sideline and keep up with TEs. Greenway was the closest thing we had when he first came to us, but now he doesn't have the speed either. Its nice to have a couple linebackers with speed and talent. Many of the other teams in the league have moved to guys who are alot faster in the middle, and less "Thumper" Urlacher, Beason, Willis, Kuechly. And their defenses were/are some of the better ones around. Its just fine time the vikings have finally adapted a bit as the NFL has changed over the years.

Funny, Zimmer just commented on wanting size and speed in an interview. But guess we don't need that?

Got to hand it to Spielman - he got the top-rated CB and the top-rated ILB on walterfootball.com.

As far as Kendricks goes, I was shocked he fell to the Vikings in round 2. The guy is fast, rangy, and instinctive. He reminds me a lot of Ed McDaniel (who is still one of my all-time favorite Vikings). The only concern I have about Kendricks is he tips the scales at just over 230 pounds, which isn't big for a middle linebacker, but like McDaniels he counters that with his speed and instincts.

This is a great pick, especially at the spot Spielman got him and the relative need at the position on the team. The planets aligned on this one. I can't wait to see Barr and Kendricks out there together. The Vikes have speed to burn now in that second level of the defense.

I think his size is the main reason he lasted as long as he did.

Hey, look: in high school, Kendricks was also a punter.

Vikings fans who were wondering when the team would bring in some competition for Jeff Locke—there's your answer.
