Re: 2015 NFL Draft thread
Was it Waynes pro day that zimmer personally ran his drills or was that someone else?
Re: 2015 NFL Draft thread
If Zimmer signed off on this pick then we're golden. He knows defense and he knows what type of player he needs to run it and if Waynes is the guy he wants I have no doubt this is the right pick for us.

I wonder if the Bears selection influenced this at all. Probably not.

@GoesslingESPN: Waynes is the highest-drafted cornerback in #Vikings history. #MINPick

Re: 2015 NFL Draft thread
Waynes reminds me of Terrence Newman a bit, who Zimmer coached and who we signed this offseason. Should be interesting to watch him develop during camp!

Thoughts the Saints were going balls to the wall for defense. Take Peat instead.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft thread
Why would anyone trade for Peterson when they can just draft Gordon? He is way cheaper and younger. Or am I missing something? I could ne as I have Kfan on and ESPN on. LolPseudo Everything wrote:As long as Gordon is on the board there's still the possibility of an AD trade in the first.

@christomasson: Harlon Barnett has told Rick Spielman that Trae Waynes is "an outstanding player on the field and an outstanding young man.''

Btw Richard Sherman was once considered tight in the hips with poor change of direction. It's all about what players are asked to do in college and how they are taught at the pro level. Waynes has the size and speed combo you look for, fits the scheme and was a productive player at college. I'm all for it.

I don't know if he personally ran the drills but I know he took a special interest in Waynes at his pro day.S197 wrote:Was it Waynes pro day that zimmer personally ran his drills or was that someone else?

I think he was the best corner prospect in the draft, outside of the typically lower rated Kevin Johnson. But that just my opinion.DK Sweets wrote:I didn't even like that highlight reel on ESPN. Hopefully I'm wrong on this, but I didn't hear many good things about him leading up to the draft.

Re: 2015 NFL Draft thread
One silver lining is that CB is a position that takes time to develop, but becomes super valuable if you get the right guy. We aren't competing for the Super Bowl next year, so I won't mind if he takes some time to develop, since the upside of getting a shutdown corner after a few years is probably higher than the upside of a guy like Parker or Periman.
