If peterson say no and holds out, he gets fined and not paid. If he retires, the Vikes will still have the rights to him if he wants to come back. My guess is he will play.
I personally think we do not need to rush this.
Exactly. People keep forgetting that the Vikings have ALL the leverage, and there is nothing AD or his agent can do about it.

Yup no reason to rush this at all. Let him stew in the soup he and his agent cooked up. Unless of course we get a very nice offer for him.

I would take patrick peterson for Adrian Peterson straight up.
Imagine that Rhodes and peterson. Dominant corners

Heck yes I would love a Peterson for Peterson trade. Would make that deal in a heartbeat.

Whatever happens, I hope it gets resolved soon. Maybe at the upcoming league meetings like Florio suggested.

As much as I love Peterson as a player, I also hope the Vikings don't touch his contract. He just made $12M for doing absolutely nothing last season and now might want more money this upcoming season and/or guarantees for 2016 as well? I think that's ridiculous. They shouldn't have to compensate him more in order for him to come back.

The longer this goes on the worse it gets for AP, in my opinion. I felt kind of bad for the guy when the league was basically using him as it's whipping boy to over come the Ray Rice mess, but he is rapidly losing any goodwill he might have earned with this offseason crap.

As has been the case all along, we the fans of the Vikings are the ones getting the shaft in this mess. I hope the Vikings stare him down and refuse to take a less than desirable deal.

So at this point best case seems to be a disgruntled employee with a giant cap hit that doesn't want to be on the team, coming back. :fam:

@CharlesRobinson: #NFL source: #Vikings GM Rick Spielman requested dinner meeting w/ Adrian Peterson's agent at owner's meetings. It was rejected. Not good.

I'm starting to hate this agent.

Right there with you but the agent works for the player and he wouldn't be doing this without direction to do so. If Peterson said he wants out, his agent will try to make it happen and that's what this looks like to me.

I'm right there with you.

This whole situation is beyond aggravating, all the more so because we don't even know what's really going on. Is it all about money? Spite? Something else? :wallbang:

This is a good point. What's to gain here?
@ArifHasanNFL That Charles Robinson tweet is odd if only bc an agent would want to be involved in talks regarding a trade, which is what he wants.

The only thing I can think of is that Dogra was trying to force Peterson's release. If that's the case, the Vikes should tell him to inform his client to purchase NFL SUnday Ticket and get ready to watch a lot of NFL football in 2015 because he won't be playing it.

Then again, I'm starting to wonder if Charles Robinson is the twitterverse/sports reporter version of the classic unreliable narrator. Where is he getting all of this stuff he's reporting? He's the one who tweeted that comment about Peterson looking like he could rip a keg in half. Does he know Peterson? Is he in contact with him? Did he just see a picture that prompted that comment?

I'm so annoyed with all of this. For example:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... witter_atl
Tuesday night we were told that the Minnesota Vikings wouldn't release Peterson. On Wednesday we had Larry Fitzgerald calling it a potential "game-changer" if the Cardinals could trade for the back. And now, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman went on the record Thursday emphatically stating -- once again -- he plans to have Peterson as his starting running back in 2015.

"Adrian is under contract and a member of our football team," Spielman told The Star Tribune's Sid Hartman. "We've stated that, our owner has stated it, our head coach has stated it. There is no question that we want Adrian Peterson back on our football team."
On Thursday's edition of NFL Total Access, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport said we are "only at the beginning of the Adrian Peterson saga."
What the heck does that mean and if Rapoport knows something that leads him to believe that's the case, report it!

From Ben Goessling:

http://espn.go.com/blog/minnesota-vikin ... rade-winds
The longer the Adrian Peterson situation plays out, the more time the Vikings have to try to convince him staying in Minnesota will work out well.
So why did Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, deem it necessary to release a statement on Wednesday evening saying the Vikings had informed him they won't release Peterson, adding, "I want to make sure there is absolutely no confusion whatsoever?" Possibly because the statement was intended for a very specific audience of 31.

If the Vikings are intent on keeping Peterson -- as they seem to be -- and the running back wants to be elsewhere, the only way to make that happen appears to be through a trade. Even though Peterson turns 30 on Saturday, and is scheduled to make $12.75 million in 2015, the feeling in league circles is he won't come cheap in a trade; the Vikings are thought to be seeking at least a second-round pick and another piece. If Peterson's camp wants a deal to happen, the best way to facilitate it is to let the other teams in the league know they have only one way to get him.

@Ryan_Boser Charles Robinson just now on @1500ESPN : The Cardinals are ONE THOUSAND PERCENT IN on Peterson. Would give a high pick (he speculated R2).
