It's nice to know at least a 2nd is on the table -- if that rumor is true -- but I highly doubt a 2nd round pick will entice the Vikings to get a deal done anytime soon. If they intend to trade AP, I'm sure they're waiting to hear more offers, which means this could drag on.

Minnesota has all the leverage though. We know the details, so I won't rehash them here. At this point, I only see the Vikings taking a deal after they've heard all offers and decide on the best one or if AP starts throwing a conniption fit publicly to the point where the team feels the headache has changed to a migraine and it's best to let him go.
Why let him go even then? That would somehow be more of a distraction to the team than they've already endured with AD?

AD needs to get over himself. Minnesota, neither the state, the people in it, nor the fans of the team, had anything to do with his actions towards his son or the fact that the crime took place in Texas, which is also the state that brought the charges and prosecuted him. This notion that somehow the water has been so poisoned in Minnesota that AD needs to play somewhere else would be comical if it weren't actually his position. I continue to suspect there is another agenda in place here and AD is simply covering that agenda with this story. There is no place AD can go where the people of that location are going to universally give him a pass on what he did. If he thinks otherwise he's deluded. There are too many former children out there that still bear similar emotional and physical scars to the ones AD inflicted on his son. They live in every place that hosts an NFL team, and few of them that are in a position to do so will remain completely silent when AD comes to their town to get his "fresh start".

If AD wants to sit it out another year, I say let him. If he wants a trade, Vikes have to get fair value in return, and that's going to require a minimum of a 1st and a 3rd. Spielman shouldn't make any deal that gets less than that.

I say he's coming back. If not, I agree that Spielman holds out a for a 1st and something else...be it another pick or a solid player.

He'll be back. It seems very clear to me at this point that the Vikings intend to bring him back.

I think we just need to be patient. Peterson has probably been to hell and back over the last year or so (I forget when the case began) so I don't find it hard to understand why he might have conflicting feelings about any number of things and based on the few interviews he's given, it sounds like that's the case. When the dust settles, I suspect he'll playing for the Vikings and playing hard, as usual.

At this point, whether he stays or gets traded I just want to know already. I will be relieved one way or the other, as long as this process is over with.

Its really a positive either way. He stays, we have the best back in the business giving teddy some breathing room. If he leaves we get more picks to continue the progression of making this team a legitimate threat.

If he stays, you won't know for sure that he's staying until opening day, so don't hold out hope for early closure. The organization has stated he's staying....we just don't believe them because of media reports.

If he's moved, it's likely to be closer to the draft when teams have a better feel for who will be available in their draft positions or are feeling a bit more desperate to finalize the deal.

As long as Peterson's suspension status is unresolved it makes it less likely that a trade is accomplished.

Last November after Peterson plead guilty, the NFL suspended him "for at least the remaining three games of the 2014 season" and said the earliest he could apply for reinstatement was April 15th. Goodell tied the timing of any reinstatement to the results of a counseling and treatment program (that he established). And as we all know Goodell's ruling was upheld in arbitration, the NFLPA sued, Judge Doty reversed the arbitration ruling and the NLF filed an appeal of Doty's decision with the 8th Circuit.

The briefs for the appeal are not due until the end of May. A hearing date for the appeal hasn't been set. The earliest a ruling would be issued is June (if expedited). Any team interested in trading for Peterson would have to evaluate what would happen if the NFL won the appeal. If the league wins its appeal, it is conceivable that Peterson would be unavailable for one more games to start the season. And as this drags on he cannot participate in OTAs or training camp as long as he's on the Commissioner's Exempt List.

How could a team make their best offer for Peterson will all these variables?

Is Peterson going to apply for reinstatement on April 15th? I don't see how that can happen given Doty's ruling and the NFL's appeal of that ruling. The draft starts on April 30th. If Peterson were to be traded that is the time it would most likely occur, but with his status in limbo how does that happen?

@Schultz_Report: Hearing chatter that Cardinals and Vikings are talking Adrian Peterson deal. Peterson/7th for a 2nd. AZ is Peterson's top choice.
Not sure how reliable this guy is but.....

To be fair, the ruling has a lot less to do with Peterson than the power of the NFL commish and the Players union. They may very well reinstate him April 15th in hopes to take the Unions wind out of their sails. Or even do it to appear genial. Peterson doesn't need to wait for the judges ruling to be able to play again. He still just needs Goddells approval. This court battle could be going on for years.

Yep, reports coming out all over the place now. Those is what I said all along, it was never going to be Dallas, if anyone it'd be AZ.

However, I still Honestly don't believe He's leaving. For a multitude of reasons. I still have yet to be wrong with any of my predictions and/or claims during this whole "The great AP incident of 2014" But I ended up wrong about both Jennings and Johnson. So...

"He kept getting pies in the face and everyone thought it was so funny.I didn't think it was so funny. They should have eaten the pies instead of throwing them at each other If they were mad,why didn't they just knock the crap out of each other?"

A 2nd? OMG. That would be a terrible trade, IMO, especially since AZ has low choices since they made the postseason. This better not be true.

Another day, another unsubstantiated rumor... ho hum.

Believe it when it happens, guys. I'm sure the Vikes are happy to consider inquiries but these click-hungry journalists and amateurs are busy reporting and repeating every rumor they hear. This one seems to be another from Yahoo reporter Charles Robinson, who has been stirring the Peterson pot quite often. I wonder if he has a truly solid source for any of it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this one happens. I don't know why, but I have a feeling about it :(
