Going to be interesting to see how he does in an offense he's perfect for. That lets him go out there and do what he does best. Could be a big year for him as long as Teddy stays healthy. In fact, Wallace never got into off-field trouble, was one of the hardest workers on the team and last year sacrificed his game, which is the deep ball, to fit into Bill Lazor’s quick-hitting offense.

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
This is interesting. They've lacked a true downfield threat, the hope was that CP84 would be that guy. Now we have a proven commodity in that role. Reps at WR are going to hard to come by on this team next year unless they start running more 3 and 4 WR sets.

I said this in the other thread too. I think you hit the nail on the head, scripted by spielman. If it works he's a genius. WITH adrian this season would be very interesting. Especially if they take waynes at 11 and he turns out to be good as advertised.Mothman wrote: I wonder if this move might sway Peterson a little...

I still maintain you don't need the "#1" WR to win, it's great to have if you can get it.. but not a deal breaker if you don't. Having a well rounded WR corps that can offer a bit of everything can be just as nice. I think the addition of Wallace could be the final piece of that equation. Of course that is putting a certain amount of faith in Charles Johnson's expected further development, amongst many other things. I imagine we'll be seeing Johnson and Wallace outside with Jennings in the slot quite a bit. With the guys they have now they could throw out some interesting 4-5 WR packages. Imagine Patterson as the guy your Dime CB or Safety has to cover?Could be alot of fun.Pondering Her Percy wrote: #1 Johnson???

Wonder if they will have Wallace KR or PR. CP's whole game just seemed to be off last year, focus on route running this season. Wallace, CP, and Johnson on the field is a lot of speed. For either a hand off to AD or a 5 yrd pass to Kyle or Ford. I bet we go after Sheref (sp?) the T/G first, put him next to Kalil, and its all D from there on out.

Sometimes guys need a fresh start ...Miami has had a ton of problems
and one of the worst player development programs IMO ...Zimmer and Norv have
dealt with many tough situations .... I will hope for the best for Wallace and the Vikings.

Think this means we will ha e 6 wrs on our roster next year. Doesn't make sense to get rid of Jennings cause he's a solid number two or three. Both Patterson and thielen are valuable on special teams and should be kept.

I'm pretty sure AP is swayed already, I really have a hard time believing he is going anywhere at this point. Pretty sure that happened earlier this week.
But fact of the matter is, however unexpected and unimaginable this was to me as Wallace wasn't even close to on my radar this year. This is AWESOME!

I agree and Wallace does have all the "tools" to become a very good #1 receiver.Puddin'Taine wrote:

I'm reeaally enjoying the optimism being expressed and the possibitly of a fully equipped offense too.
I hope Wallace embraces the opportunity and something clicks for this team....it's been tough watching them struggle the last few seasons.

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
With Wallace that gives five or six guys with (or very close) 4.3 speed
Peterson, Wallace, Wright, Patterson, McKinnon, (Johnson ??? not sure about)
I can't think of very many faster offenses, if any
Teddy will be better next season as well.. Our defense should be better too

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
i am not a fan of this trade, but i might become one if teddy can hit him on some deep balls this season. i think brandon marshall is a way more complete receiver and we would have gotten him for about the same we gave up in this deal. i live in the pittsburgh area and all of my friends were happy (along with most of the town) to see wallace leave when he did. one of the complaints people often made about him were that he was very one dimensional. one thing is for sure; he is way overpaid.
Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
Agreed. I've always thought "#1 WR" was basically a synonym for "star WR". If you can get one, it's great but beyond that, it's not really an actual position to be filled. Having talent that fits the system and works well together matters a lot more.nightowl wrote: I still maintain you don't need the "#1" WR to win, it's great to have if you can get it.. but not a deal breaker if you don't.
