It won't be popular, but Wallace. Brandom Marshall has always been one my favorite receivers, but he wouldn't fit this offense. Charles Johnson is the same player, but younger and cheaper (I use same loosely because Johnson isn't anywhere near Marshall's level right now). The Vikings needed someone to take the top of the defense and Wallace fits that bill to a T. He fits nicely into the pieces the Vikings have and provides something the offense desperately needed.London Viking wrote:would we of rather have got Marshall with a 5th like the jets did or Wallace with a 5th?
Like the trade for wallace but a big eye opener to how we view the future of c-pat. If the season started tomorrow you'd probably have wallace & jennings 1&2 wr's johnson 3rd?

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
I think it depends on what he ultimately gets paid but I don't know that he'll be a 1,000 yard receiver again. Honestly I think his production will likely mirror what he did in Miami, 700-800 yards and 7 TDs give or take a bit in either direction.MusicCityViking wrote: In your opinion, is this a good deal?
What role do you predict he will play in our WR core?

Me either. I think its a 50/50 he's a mild bust. So if he is traded, its not as big of a deal. Cause Wallace can outrun CP any day of year. Would still have drafted a WR, and gave CP another year though. Zimmer and Norv seem to like the smaller fast guys. The Breeze wrote:I would not be surprised to see CP84 traded now.
Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
My take that I already posted in FA thread
At first I was meh mike Wallace. But then thought about how he fits in this offense and with Teddy. I think he will be drastically better here than Miami as Teddy is very accurate on his intermediate balls. Tannehill is definition of check down. Go back and check out his stats it's amazing.
He was very productive in Pittsburgh. I see the same thing here. He is a burner. This trade now has me surprisingly excited.
I'd guess Schreff, Waynes, or BPA defensively at number 11 now.
I think Jennings stays put. Too much of a leader.
Also, if Wallace had been communicating with vikings for over an hour, I'd assume re-structuring was a topic of conversation at some point....

Forecasting poor Adam Thielen gets cut in camp now

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
Not even close IMO, Marshall hands down. Would have given a 4th for him. Marshall had one off year, Wallace hasn't had a great year in some time. But as I mentioned in the other thread I don't think Marshall was ever an option.London Viking wrote:would we of rather have got Marshall with a 5th like the jets did or Wallace with a 5th?

@ArmandoSalguero: One more thing I'm hearing on Mike Wallace traded to Minny: No, he's not thrilled by it.

Diva making 10M a year. Hopefully he gets his head on right.
Still an upgrade, hopefully they can find a taker for Patterson too. Should fit great in the offense. Not sure how well having 20M a year invested in the position is going to work out.

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
I think we have enough cap to keep Jennings, and I don't see (don't want) him cut. Reconvene at the end of the year and decide what to do with them. Further, i say we should keep CP84 because if he pans out and does well, we can cut jennings at the end of the year and keep CP84.
Also, I have always been a huge Jarius Wright supporter and I think the Vikings would regret cutting him. Sadly for all those Thielen fans, I don't see us keeping 6 WR's and I think he will be released.

Well that is just a bummer. Maybe Zimmer and Turner can get him straightened out.

Re: WR Mike Wallace traded to Vikings
We have an awesome coach@GoesslingESPN: Zimmer wouldn't get into whether the #Vikings can afford two WRs at that price. "I'm not the money guy," he said.

I'm still not buying those rumors.
Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson's agent tells CBSSports's Jason La Canfora his client is not being shopped by the Vikings.

Everything Zimmer's said about Patterson suggests that they want to give him more time and that they're making an effort to help speed up the process of his development, including altering their approach to using him in the offense.
If anything I think this may suggest that Greg Jennings could be asked to restructure his deal, assuming that Wallace isn't. Otherwise Jennings could be gone. I don't see us paying two WRs as much as Jennings and Wallace make, especially considering the recent production out of the pair.

Oh, no doubt. I'd still be dancing if it was Marshall. Both have issues, but Marshall is a much better WR, which I also prefer over pure speed.S197 wrote: Not even close IMO, Marshall hands down.
