Adrian Peterson Reinstated

IF they do trade AD, they better get at least a 1st rd pick plus a 3rd or I will be livid. I still would be shocked if anyone put a package like that together, especially Dallas. They offered Murray only $5 million per year, I can't see them wanting to give AD much more than that.

I'll say this, if all the rumors are to be believed, and Arizona has been clearing cap room to make a run at peterson, dallas wants to make a run at peterson and the Bucs have 'aggressive plans" to acquire peterson, it seems awfully unlikely that the notion peterson won't net more than a 4th round pick is accurate. If t all those rumors are true, it's more like a bidding war is brewing.

I'm not convinced they'd get a first round pick out of a Peterson trade, which is one of the reasons I still think the most likely scenario is that he'll remain a Viking in 2015 on a renegotiated deal. However, if they get an extra first-rounder, I'm thinking they'll use both on players rather than packaging them together to move up. I could see them packaging one of them with a pick from another round to move up though...

I am just curious... you think a 5th and a 7th round pick and say the 25th pick in the draft are more valuable then the 19th pick of the draft?

Who knows! A bidding war could get crazy if 3 teams are in on it. Dallas Tampa Arizona I want at least a first round and more!

I could definitely see Tampa not wanting to part with their number 1 pick but I'd have to think that Arizona and Dallas would be willing to part with a late first for Peterson. Especially Dallas if they lose Murray to Philly.

I don't know how necessary that would be unless there is someone he really covets. I've read that the Seahawks have a first-round grade on only 15 players this year, which is consistent from how others have also perceived this class. If we somehow do land two first-rounders, I'm not sure I'd be inclined to trade one away. In fact, I may be inclined to use one to trade down.

I think trade down to 15ish and grab Melvin Gordon. And with the 24ish pick hopefully Beckham Green or whatever his name is the wide reciever.

Possible. But I have to imagine there are at least 2 of those 15 players that Rick and Zimmer want. Our 11th gets us one for sure. its possible that another might still be around in the late teens. If his guy is there. I'd be all for him trading a potential late 1st and some 5th 6th 7th to leap up and get him

As the saying goes, 6 of one, half a dozen of the other...

To me, it would be a situational call, based on who was available, depth of the draft, etc. i can imagine situations where I'd trade those 3 picks to move up to #19 and situations where I wouldn't make the trade because i'd rather stay put and get 3 players instead of one.

Sorry if that's seems like a cop out. I just think the value of the picks varies depending on other variables.

I have to say that I really enjoy watching the Vikings work on draft day for the last few years. Seems like they always move around and collect some picks while still managing to land a solid player. Six of our 1 round picks from the last 3 years are starters. SIX. the only one that isn't is Patterson.

Here's how I think ADs conversation with the FO has gone:

Vikes: we totally want you back and can work it out financially in a way that everyone is happy...but only if you want to be here.
AD: my family and I would rather move on in a best case scenario, to places X,Y or Z.
Vikes: we are open and willing to move you but only if we can get fair value in return.
AD: I get you and will honor my contract if a beneficial deal can't get done.

then maybe there is an open dialogue about the specifics of what realistic fair value actually is......then they wait to see if anybody is willing to pony up while keeping mum about the particulars.

I still say it's some combo of high pick and a starter on either side of the ball.

Is that realistic?
