I like having the vet to help his development.....but I'm all about developing one guy at a time there.
I have the opposite philosophy... but Hill doesn't preclude the Vikes developing another young QB... even Pat Devlin!
Not sure who Devlin is....but I'm not in favor of carrying 3 guys right now.
Really? I think an NFL team should always carry 3 QBs. The Vikes have gone to the third QB on their depth chart in 3 of the last 5 years, though not always out of necessity (*cough* Freeman *cough*). To me, it just makes sense to always have another guy with starting potential developing in the "pipeline" because fortunes can change so quickly in the NFL.
I think that also puts to bed the unlikely scenario of Ponder re-signing. I heard the guys on NFL radio speculating on that this morning. I knew it would never happen but apparently they never got the memo.

Yeah, that wasn't going to happen. I doubt even Ponder would want that.
I do hope he lands in a good spot. I wish the guy well...
Speaking of that, I just saw this:
Purple FTW! Podcast @PurpleForTheWin 1m1 minute ago
.@KFAN1003 is running Christian Ponder Free Agency updates with just dead air. It's equal parts delightful & mean spirited.
I am all messed up. I thought it was Hill that played for Tampa. Was his name also Shaun?
The former Viking come home to roost. wasn't he hurt last year, or was that the year before? I still think that Campbell was the better move unless Norv and he did not get along. I thought for the most part Campbell ran Norv's offense fairly well in Cleveland after Hoyer went down. Was it not Campbell who threw Josh Gordon into the record books? Ahhh, just a thought. What the hell do I know? I cant even keep my Hill's straight.
Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
Including now, HOF WR #80 Cris Carter

I'm with you having the guy in the pipeline but keeping him on the practice squad vs active roster.
As for developing a guy, my philosophy has changed lately. I think they had the right mindframe with Ponder just the wrong guy. I would like to see the next guy in line learn from Bridgewater...which means they have to develop him first.
I'm not saying it couldn't work to have a guy just a year younger than him to be learning alongside him. I just hesitate due to the issues it could raise.

Huh? Mike Glennon? Or Josh McCown?

Maybe you want this one? He's younger, so Jim gets his developmental player.

@christomasson Source close to Hill says key reason for going to Vikings was having spent 2006 with Norv Turner in SF. Said Hill easily can fit into system

Shaun King was in Tampa.
I liked Campbell better too...but Hill will get the job done IMO.
