Personally I liked the Cassel trade. But they are going to need a veteran back-up, preferably a younger guy who will learn the system and remain on the team for awhile. With that being said, my 2 choices would be Sanchez or Gabbert. I think either one of those guys could fill in just fine if needed short term. The only problem I could see if the price tag on Sanchez might be a little high, but out of everyone on that list he is the most capable and worth the $

When did Sanchez become so wanted? He had a good half season in a qb friendly system. Am i missing something? Gabbert i know nothing about. Just seems like we're OK with settling for whatever is left over. Frankly, Im not happy with any free agent that is available right now. Maybe Locker.

I sure hope the Vikings do something spectacular with the pick they got for Cassel.

Well it's irrelevant now, he's signing back with the Eagles

Bill Polian is suggesting the trade for #Vikings QB Matt Cassel is not going as well as was expected. It may fall through. #nfl #Bills

VIKINGS RUMORS
Cassel trade not yet official. Wonder if they're getting other offers. Bill Polian is hinting trade may fall through. I would guess it's Vikings pulling back. Probably have another landing spot for him; wouldn't have signed Hill otherwise & Bills were the ones to announce it IIRC. Sounds like he needs to report for the physical. Unclear if missed appt or what. UPDATE Looks like things are on track, Cassel will be at the physical. Dunno if it was Polian stirring the pot or someone else did and he ran with it or what

Cassel deal went through today.
Looks like we signed Shuan Hill for a veteran backup.

That's good news I like Hill a whole lot better but they still need to bring in or draft another QB IMO.

IIRC, Zimmer and Spielman both had mentioned that they would like to add a qb through the draft that can learn behind Teddy.

Man I would hate to depend on Hill if TB went down. This guy is a smidge better than Cassell but that is not saying much. They need to draft or pick up someone else.
